My guess is that there could be something failing at the server center. Most likely a hard drive or multiple hard drives

I've seen missing pictures on product pages, so maybe yes.

Sadly nothing so simple. If we lost a raid volume then nothing would be able to download and we could have just restored from backups. Unfortunately this problem is a bit more complex and nuanced, so in order to keep the majority of the site up we are having to do an online repair of the few files that are damaged. Doing this while keeping the site up and functional (although, slow by our standards) is tricky but the team working on it is making good (but sadly, non-visible) progress.

Thank you for sticking around to listen to my boring status updates, at least I know enough of you are still interested so I should keep on posting them as I get more information.

Thank you, Rawb! The status updates are very much appreciated! I'm liking this much better than being kept in the dark, for sure! Thank you for keeping us posted on the progress. :)

They're not boring at all. Even if I don't understand a single word of the technical details LOL I'd MUCH prefer you posting them, rather than a deafening silence from dazland. At least we know it's being worked on, and we're not all sitting here going "what the heck is going on and is daz doing anything about it??".

I totally agree. The silence for days, not even knowing if it was being worked on, was frustrating, to say the least. The updates are much better! :) I hope they keep the updates coming!

Again I would like to say thank-you for replying to the concerns and keeping everyone up to date on what's going on. At least we know we've been heard and that things are being worked on... Thank-you!

Rawb, you mentioned trouble validating/verifying files before. Did the server update break the old file system somehow?

Rawb, the store is not working right. I stopped shopping because several of the stores were empty. I KNOW I don't have all of the products. Then when I refreshed, some came back but then others were gone. Saiyaness is now up, but I couldn't shop that one before I HAD to check out as is getting close to store turnover time. IH Kang was down, it came back up. At the moment, all stores are back that I have checked. But thought I should let you know. That was a few minutes ago, 12:45ish-12:47 central time.

Also, I noticed in Fast Grab, the Sultry Noir bundle wasn't showing a discount, but it DOES do the right price when put in the cart.

It's not even showing up in Fast Grab for me. I'm only seeing two items in Fast Grab and that's not one of them. Site issues, grrrr.

The new items, and most of the items on the PC+ sale page are not showing either.

Thanks very much for keeping us informed.  The download speed improvement is quite noticable.

    Failing for me:

I think Daz should put a hold on all sales until the site is fixed. Not regular sales, but the PC sale and all new items. PAs are losing money and so is Daz when we can't check out... Then we have no interest in buying the things at a higher price that we once had in our cart for a super low price but couldn't buy because the site was down. And now the continual changing of prices while in the cart and incorrect discounts on top of all the other site errors just makes it too difficult to shop.

How can you have a PC anniversary sale if it's not on the Anniversary?   THe PC started in October 2002  and the forums started in October 2003, so the Anniversary sale has to be in October.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but there's a product showing a blank white square again on the store front page today. The tooltip you get from hovering over the black line beneath it says that it's 'HP Myrtle for Star 2.0 and Aiko 7'.

Since the site has had problems for a very long time (actually ever since the big upgrade in 2012) I doubt they can fix it all in a day or two, and being offline longer would probably be disastrous for the company.

Really? That long? I've only been around for about six months or so but up until about a week go the site ran pretty smoothly for me most of the time. I mean, I've never had the kind of issues before that I've been having over the past week. And the vast majority of the time before this past week things usually ran pretty well for me. This past week though it's been horrible. I've missed out on something I really wanted thanks to this site's issues and it's been a headache doing even the most mundane things like trying to read the forum (though the forum seems to be doing a lot better for the best part of the day *knock on wood*).

Are we talking about the same site?

For what it's worth, I thought the forum seemed better behaved today too.

But still I can't download one item:

Grail Knights for the Peasant Outfit

Install Manager tried for several days now. It loads, and when it has finished loading, it just tells me it failed.

I'm not talking about major problems like those a few days ago, these are quite rare, but different bugs affecting discount calculations, product info, wishlist etc.. I think many will agree with me that the discount calculation errors has been a long standing problem.

I'm not just having slow or failing downloads.  Existing items on my HD, which have been in place and in the correct categories of Smart Content (we're talking the DAZ Connect versions now), are now in "Lost and Found." I haven't had this much in Lost and Found before ever. Not even when DC first started and they had some stuff in there because it was all new and being updated. These are not new items but are items the program used to know where they go, and now it doesn't.  So this doesn't seem like just some corrupted files, but also a database issue.

It would also explain why some of the stuff I bought, does not show up in DAZ Connect at all.

Am sort of glad this is happening to you, because I was noticing this last night, thinking 'No, surely once something has made it as far as my computer and is put in the right place, it stays there until I move it'. I thought I was imagining things.

  • I'm also having trouble with some of my DIM downloads.  One of them finally went through, but all day yesterday and so far today it keeps failing to update Moonshines Diner Interior I DS, Scarlet Textures, and West Park Day Room DS; and failing to download Alliance Outfit for G3F and Wreckage 4: The Fortress.

  • PennamePenname Posts: 344

I download manually and everything has been fine, but waiting 10+ seconds for every single product page to load gets old.  But it comes and goes; it's an incredibly complex site and I'm not going to stop shopping (although my credit card would love me if I did).  I just try again later in the day.  Keeps me more productive with other things. . . LOL.

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,343

Well at least the forums are working pretty well again.  Not tried the DIM again.... off to my real day job now.  Thanks for the updates Rob.  They are not boring, they are informative... and it's good to be transparent about what's going on rather than leaving folks to their imaginations... you know how we can get with our internal story telling in this community!  lmao

None of the new or debut items are showing up as on sale for me.  They're ALL showing up as full price.  What is going on with Daz?????  Why can't they fix this?  It's an everyday occurance that the store is messed up for me.

  • DAZ_RawbDAZ_Rawb Posts: 817

Just to give everyone an update, it looks like we are getting close to completion on the longest stage of the repair. We have decreased the amount of concurrency in the repair process to speed up the load times on the store and the forums, so you should notice it behaving better today.

While I would love to give an accurate ETA on when I think this will complete, I know Murphy's law better than to try and get your hopes up. I will say that we have completed the second longest stage, and are now getting close to the longest. So I appreciate you all giving me words of encouragement as we get through this.

Also, I'm glad to hear that the DIM speeds are faster. After this is all done with we also have some speed improvements for Daz Connect that I'll want to get some feedback on as well.
