Oh, no.  Is that a Venus Flytrap?  That poor, innocent frog.  Well, he's history, I guess.

Edit:  oh, thank you, forum, I can edit this post. blush  Yep, that is one gone frog.

...simple cook tonight, tossed a a couple corn ears in the pot then slathered them in real butter followed by a big chunk of watermelon for dessert.

Read an article in one of my senior health newsletters that pointed to watermelon being very healthy.  The "redder" it is the healthier. While it is regarded as a fruit it is actually a relative of the cucumber.

I used to love watermelon.  Now, it's ok during the middle of summer.  In times past, all us kids usually got stomach aches at watermelon pickin' time. :-)

Wow, it is almost 2 in the morning, and I'm wide awake.  I shouldn't have taken a nap with a Shih Tzu on my feet.

....hang tight.  Hopefully Con Ed is better at getting power restored than PGE is (the utility where I live) .

New store stuff kicks in at 8 am for me, so I'm normally pretty awake, although last night I was annoyingly awake at 2am, and at 3 am. But not so much at 8 am! At least in America you've got today off!

    need another cofofffeeee . . . .

    New project start today. Thinks . . . :)

Technically cucumbers are fruits. It's about what part of a plant they are, not the sugar content. laugh for the Audrey Jr. reference in earlier post.

My Sleepy Medicine that I take does not allow me to stay up that late, otherwise I would stay up that late if I want to, or not.

Let a witch of a dog get sick, and somebody'll be staying up till 4 in the morning, whether they want to or not.

I am so tired of chasing that little she-devil.

And today's Labor Day.  I slam forgot.

    Good morning, everybody.

    Random fact of the day

  • One of my games keeps crashing.  The error message says something about not being able to write to a certain memory location.  All of my other programs don't crash with memory errors.  Daz 3D has the weird bug with sub surface textures (I forgot the term) rendering white or silver.  Deleteing the temporary files and shader cache fixes that problem though.  Software is so complex.

Did we have a hurricane yet?

They evacuated nearby Fire Island... But so far the worst I've seen is a little breeze and a few loose leaves on the ground... Actually, it's rather pleasant out.

The other day there was a miscommunication and FEMA issued an evacuation order for my county... Technically impossible because there really is no way to safely evacuate that many people from this big of an island... The only way out is NYC bridges or boats and only the handful of ferries to Connecticut that would not be of much use... Literally, it's logistically impossible... Anyway, it was only for a short while, maybe minutes until they fixed that, and corrected that it was only a non-mandatory evacuation for Fire Island...

The bad part about this is, a lot of businesses had to shut down because of the hurricane... But since it fizzled, I doubt that next time they will bother, despite what they should have learned from Sandy... People forget so quickly...

    Oh well.

... ... People forget so quickly...

And the older we get the forgetfuller we get. :-(  I spy with my little eye, senility creeping up on me.  I've taken to keeping a daily updated spreadsheet of exactly everything I spend. Cash, credit cards, checks & automatic deductions.  Accurate to the penny.  And I freak out when the pennies don't match what I have in my pocket or bank accounts.  Most days I'm OK but once in a while it's freak out time.  I spend hours going through receipts and daily activities trying to remember what I forgot. (I need a "Rememberall").  Today was a freak out day.   Two days ago I had $5.05 more cash than my spreadsheet said I had.  I couldn't find my mistake so I finally put in a $5.05 entry labled "Unknown" in my "Cash Income" field.  Everything balanced and I was a happy camper for 48 hours.  Yesterday I don't remember going out of the house at all.  Today I went out and had breakfast at McDonalds and then later went for a short drive and bought an ice cream sundae, and bought groceries.  I made entries in the appropriate fields and now my spreadsheet says I have $15.08 more cash than I actually have.  ARGHHHH.....

Perhaps math doesn't work on holidays?

My nephew likes Ironman because he is cool, but I like Ironman because he is hot!

That's air friction from flying through the air so fast.  And besides with his uniform on he's not very soft and cuddly.
