You know you're a DAZ addict when you own nearly half the items in this sale blush

    Nearly half? I'm seeing 34 of 76.

    17 OF 76

    ...and I still found 5 items to Build-A-Bundle !

Okay, you have us all beat laugh

I showed 16 out of 76 before I checked out, but I did manage to get 5 things I wanted, most of which were on my wishlist.  So, now I'm down to 11.

Okay, is it just me, or are the items in fast-grab (except one) showing as full price?

Not just you. Change over due?

  • Is there actually a "Flash Sales Alert" thread that isn't just endless discussion?

I just want to see an actual alert when there is a flash sale so I don't miss them. This thread seems like it should be called "Flash Sales Discussions"

In theory, that's this thread. In practice, people have questions and answers and a tendency to get excited at a big sale. Maybe we need a "Flash Sale Alerts ONLY" thread.

naaaa, is funier when we can share, daz3d sends a mail when there are sales, isnt it?

  • UthgardUthgard Posts: 878

No. They dont. That's why we have this thread. I agree that chatter is always fun and there are sales that are hard not to remark on, but it's getting to the point where if there ever is a blink sale, I'll surely miss it, as this thread has become useless for notifications.

There is another thread whose purpose it was precisely to have these discussions, but it seems to have fallen into obscurity: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/80091/infinite-insanity-there-s-always-another-sale-daily-sale-talk/p1

That was exactly why I suggested that thread be made (also because of March Madness etc threads end usefulness after uh April ends) but it never really took off. Maybe we need one with a better title.

Has anything like that ever worked? :)

    Errr, not really...

Discussions on sales have there place, but when I'm trying to get work done, I don't want to keep having to click on flash sale alert emails which are fake. Its like the boy that cried wolf. It makes the whole idea of an alert thread worthless.

Around here there is no such thing as just a thread lol. These discussions have saved me a ton of extra money and time. I would never have got the $12 deal on the membership if it want posted here. The conversations here are a literal gold mine

I should be paying Ati a commission for all the money I have saved, LOL

besides, fastgrab, flash and blink sales don't happen all the time and this thread would be buried if all it did was announce just those sales

  • lx_2807502lx_2807502 Posts: 2,996

I have to agree with that - most of the time it's not til someone mentions a detail of a sale that I actually start buying things. I knew about the build a bundle sale but hadn't really explored what was possible with it until people were talking here.

Yeah, me too. I am struggling whether or not to buy several of these pro bundles that I almost bought last time...but, talked myself out of in order to exert a bit of moderation....

This thread is very helpful. I'm not sure why we'd have to separate the sale announcements versus the discussion about those sales. And a lot of the discussion ends up being about sales that are higher discounts than the normal flash sales, plus sometimes it's unintentional on DAZ's part and temporary, so again, there's a time limit.

One location for the discussion is much more efficient. So we have to hit delete a few extra times on emails now and then. That's not hard to handle, imo.

Agreed, I don't pay much attention to how things stack from one banner to another, so seeing an example of how much one can save was really helpful. Although it does give DAZ time to see it and fix it or shut it down, LOL.

What's hard to handle is whether to check the conversation or not every few minutes. Not trying to sound passive-aggressive here, just pointing out that an alert and a discussion serve distinct purposes and that not separating them renders one of them useless. I am a freelancer and, while I don't mind a quick interruption to see if there's an interesting sale going on, a barrage of notifications for a conversation is definitely not something I can fit into my workflow. The previous incarnation of this thread was very useful and I am grateful for it, but it looks like I'll be unsubscribing and checking it from time to time. Thanks for all the fish!

why? It should be obvious but since it needs to be spelled out, I'll try one more time. If I'm at work and busy, I don't have time to spend all day jumping into the forums. I might glance at my phone and see just an email title. If I see "Flash Sale Alert" as the subject it would be nice if it was actually a Flash Sale Alert.

If I want to see a discussion, thats great, I'm not downplaying the value of discussions on sales, I've saved a lot of money as well from tips in discussion thread, but it should be a separate thread. The idea of 2 threads works for the contests, there's an entry thread and a WIP thread. It's really no different.

There should be a FLASH SALE ALERTS ONLY thread and a FLASH SALE DISCUSSION ONLY thread. Thats the last I'm going to say, obviously there's disagreement, but not everyon can spend all day bouncing in and out of the forums everytime they see an ALERT in their inbox.

In all honestly, the basis behind this thread in the beginning was just some forum members being nice and giving a heads up. I for one appreciate the gesture, otherwise I would have to find out about these sales the way DAZ intended, visting the site and waiting for an email.

  • Just my 2cts (and much more saved with this thread): added 1 year PC+ for just 1USD/month (12.60) and few things including Pro bundles at 17USD. Superb sales that stacked great. I woudn't notice that if someone didn't told it there in first place. So, a big thank you for the poster.

PS 1: Daz is actullay killing my wallet: in just few days we got the most amazing sales since my first registration 18month ago. Pro bundles at 17USD (even 7USD few days ago), all bundles at 2USD even less, V4/M4 stuf at super cheap. Well, I'm really happy

PS2: and all this G2 stuff is really recent (let's say less than 1y old for many of thiose things!

For me, I prefer to see Flash Sales and multiple stacking sales in the same thread. The heads-up are about big savings. It's a service to everyone. If you have to leave the thread because the sales announced aren't always an official Flash sale, despite the percentage of the savings often being higher, that seems a bit illogical.

I'm very thankful that folks are willing to take of their time to give others a heads-up about any DAZ sale. I've saved a lot of money through this thread. And if folks stop to help another understand the sale, that's just kindness and community, which everyone can always use a little more of. It restores my faith in the kindness of others. :)

But you don't have to check it every time you get an email, do you?

For my part, I really like that this thread is active - it won't slip too far into the archive in a busy forum. I like that there is robust discussion and experimentation with prices and a healthy outpouring of gratitude everytime someone uncovers a particularly awesome price.

I don't subscribe to this thread, but I check it fairly regularly, whenever I have the time to do so. I haven't missed too many opportunities to save money yet! Maybe you should consider unsubscribing too, if the emails are getting to you.

Regardless, I don't think that you or anyone else will be able to change the different ways in which people choose to use this thread, so it might be best to just roll with it!

Is quite easy when to know that people is speaking of oportunities, from the early morning to mid day, later than that is just friendly chat XD

EXACTLY this. I had bought a bunch of bundle discounts yesterday, before I discovered this thread. But the tips here saved me huge money by illustrating how to stack discounts on items that weren't that heavily discounted otherwise. I wouldn't have paid $50 for a $150 Gen2 Pro bundle... but at $15 a bundle when you buy 5? That becomes a no brainer. Especially when you add in the PC membership for $12. I can already see that the PC membership is going to lead me to buy a lot more in the future too...

One of those is a PC+ item. Is that new? Never seen that happen.

Maybe they're trying to give a taste of the PC+ to those who aren't in it, in hopes they'll join.

For non PC+ members, the 70% off makes sense. For PC+ members, not so much, as we already get a greater discount on it normally. :)
