How to transfer G3M Maps to G2M Figures

Specifically, situations like 'I want a different skin tone for this G3M and, well, I don't have one.' Or 'these geografts do not share any skin in common.'

They've improved the pre-made textures alot in Genesis 3 but the variety in skin tones is still lacking a lot and some of the pre-painted textures still err in painting on stereotyped features directly on the skin. It looks bad really on the skin around the eyes where they paint on shadows, LOL, and sleep-deprevation apparently, LMAO,  to make up for the models having a lamp shined directly in their faces.

    • The product that puts the G2F and M UV on G3M and F is very clever in that it uses geografts to replace the mesh that cannot be matched up.
    • it is actually changing the geometry of the figure in effect making a new figure/model
    • this could be done the other way but again you will not actually have a genesis 2 male or female but a new mesh using parts of their mesh and geografted new bits in effect making a new figure again, I have no idea how they do this but it is brilliant but still a workaround a frankensteining
    • the vendor who made it Cayman Studios might do a version the other way and is probably your best bet

I have actually just started work on a UV conversion from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 2 Female, as there appears to be some demand for it.  There will have to be new geografts and I have already come across a few issues which didn't exist for the Legacy UVs, but nothing insurmountable.  So watch this space!

That's a hope you'll develop a G3M to G2M texture converter? Just a thing: I know there are a lot of demand in feminine figures, but I need it for Genesis Male Figures.

Well, it's early days, but now I've set down on that path it's likely that I'll do the male version too.

Far too many have makeup I have to get rid of, so I can get the makeup on I want.

Stating a texture to be without makeup, yet obviously 'she' didn't wipe it off properly is annoying. But I learnt a few things fixing it, so not all bad.

Well me too as I think they would enable V4/M4 / G / G2F & G2M / G3F & G3M to pretty much be interchangable backwards & forwards then although I'm not organized enough to ever take as good enough advantage as I could with such tools.

it is tricky, G3F & G3M are topologically very different which has help in terms of L.I.E. presets but yes they are fairly different in terms of compatability.  I personally like when technology is willing to make clean breaks when all of the compromises of trying to kluge in compatibilty start to pile up.

Well I already have that problem going just forward...that's why I mostly stick to Genesis 3 with Genesis 2 & Genesis clothing only when needed on Genesis 3 (I have reported Genesis 2 female clothing bug when clothing Viki 7 or Brooke HD 7 for example).

Mmm! Oh no!! Bad news for me then! I need it for Male Characters :( How much time will it take you to make the male version? (I assure you'll have at least one purchaser, me) so please, if you could give it priority to this product over other projects you have, I'd thank you a lot. I really need that tool!

Any other artist who want to develop the male version? I really need this tool with urgency! Or at least a tutorial how to develop? I need to transfer G3M Maps to G2&1M with big urgency! Please, someone help me!

taiuri, the female version took me a good three weeks to do.  The male version will take me a similar amount of time.  I shall probably start it in about 10 days or so.  Then it takes a few weeks for DAZ to QA it and arrange a release, so I am afraid it is highly unlikely it will be in the store before October.

Ok, I just was wondering why did you start with the female version? I requested you this product first, it was my idea, and I told you I needed the male version, if you had started with the male version it'd been first ready than the female version, now I'll have to wait until October to have it. I'll have to do it because I don't have another choice, but I'd have liked you started with the male version.

Cayman stated pretty clearly when he first posted in this thread that he had already been working on a female version. Additionally, it wasn't your idea first. People have been asking for a product like this basically since Genesis 3 launched over a year ago. And as female products almost always outsell male ones, it only makes sense for him to work on that first.

    That's awesome!! I can't wait to purchase it when it's ready! :D

How are you with that product? Any progress?

The female version is done and I shall submit it shortly.  Then I need to work on something else before I decide about the male version.

So? Will it be ready the male version soon?

taiuri, the female version took me a good three weeks to do.

    • The product that puts the G2F and M UV on G3M and F is very clever in that it uses geografts to replace the mesh that cannot be matched up.
    • it is actually changing the geometry of the figure in effect making a new figure/model

    Good luck!

Cayman, thanks for all the hard work, your products are outstanding!

Yes, you're a great artist. It's true I don't like to wait (not for impatience, it's for work issues) but I recognize not any person can do what you do (including me) so I'll wait until the male version is finished for purchasing. Please let us know once the male version is available in the Daz Store for purchasing it! Kind Greetings! ;)

Here's a new way to transfer textures (for Unwrap3D users):
    http://unwrap3d.com/u3d/tutorial_repaint_mesh.aspx

    Blender not required.

All you need is this to morph G3M and G2M into the same shape:
    http://www.sharecg.com/v/83139/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Texture-Conversion-Helper-morphs-G3M

In fact, as long as you have the morphs to morph two characters into the same shape, you can transfer textures between any generation of Genesis.

So? What is your point with that comment? This isn't like you can call dibs on a product simply because you suggested it...especially when it was suggested ages ago.

Wow, thanks for the link I use Ultimate Unwrap3D pro all the time, didn't know this was avaliable.
