We started a new D&D game this weekend. I am trash, and this is the most vain, egotistical character I have ever played, lol

What skin are you using? It looks really nice.

This looks like a bulked up version of New Mutant "Sunspot"! Great!

...Slightly OT though relevant from clicking on William's link.

DA is now throwing a big popup on the screen to turn off ad blocking. This is beginning to get ridiculous.

...oh, and great pic. Love the lighting

I've been trying not to spend much... but the price and the uniqueness of Comet grabbed me!

Images look really nice guys!  I really like the Jamaica guy!  I'll have to go wishlist him. His skin looks very nice.  You did a good job with him, FSMCDesigns!

Will, I love what you did with the Comet render.  The rider doesn't look familiar, but did you use your own shaders on him?  I love the colors on him.  I love how Comet looks in this render.  Nice choice of shaders!

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,104

Comet uses Mec4D shaders, combo of v1 &2.

The figure is actually one of the Genesis Supersuit presets MechWarden, converted to Iray Uber and not much more than that. (I didn't really feel like going through all the many many many surfaces and tweak it, and felt it looked ok as is)

  • KnittingmommyKnittingmommy Posts: 8,191

Yeah, I think he looks fine.  I'll have to look and see if I have that suit.  The conversion did a great job!  I kind of figured Mec4D was there on Comet somewhere! :)  I use those for most of my metal needs these days.

Specifically, brushed gold and black plastic base from vol 1, and some of the pyrite glass from vol 2. And maybe rubberized plastic for the hooves? I think that's right.

I love Legacy UVs for Gen 3. I'd been trouble finding a skin texture for Mike 7 I liked, but I adored Nevo for M6. Soooo...Here's a book cover I'm doing for a friend which kit bashes several clothes items.

I haven't added a render here in a long time, been just too busy with RL. Here is one I did a while back.

Nice, Will.  Is that the new Epic Godrays?  It looks nice and wispy.

I wish I had something to contribute, but I have a render that is taking forever to finish.  So far, it's been rendering for two days and is only at about 76%.  It's using both the Epic Godrays and a Touch of Dirt and I think my system is ready to have a nervous breakdown!  I swear, it had better be a really good image by the time it gets done!  So far, it is showing promise, but I don't know if it will ever finish!  I have serious doubts that I'll try to re-render, either, so I really hope no one finds any clipping or mistakes in it when I finally upload to my gallery!

@Damsel I really like what you have so far for the book covers.  If you want any advice or critiques as you work on it, there's a Book Cover thread over in the Art Studio.  It's usually only active when people are working on covers so don't be afraid to post even if it seems inactive.  Several of us pop up when something new is posted.

Darwins Mishap(s)  Nice.  I like the DOF you got with the lettering on the side of the building in front of his face.  I still have a hard time getting DOF just the way I want most of the time.

    Yeah, that's epic godrays.

...so much better viewing images on a real computer instead of a smartphone.  Especially images embedded in posts, as on the phone they come out really tall and skinny.

Oh and DustRider, I know it's pic of Girl7 but I'm sure you meant you've been "too busy".

Hi Damsel! I like your book-cover bad boy image! M6 usually looks so ... nice... but here he seems a bit more hot and disreputable somehow (in a good way!) despite his nice clean pretty clothes. :)   I like the outfit you mashed up for him too, BTW.

But the hair really does it for me as the topper!   What hair-do is he wearing in the "jackie.jpg" image?

Eep! I didn't mean to ignore you! I somehow missed this comment! The skin is FWSA Mina skin with HumanReshade.

    @Damsel

Please note: finger not on the trigger.

I think of you every time I pose someone with a gun and if they are not in the act of firing: no finger on the trigger.

Everything else about these is very nice, also.

My latest Iray render.  I'm not sure what was going on with it, but it took 6 days to render this out (CPU only) and I had to turn off limits on the iterations and bump it up to 40,000 before the dirt layer using A Touch of Dirt actually looked like dirt and not just noise.  I had Epic Props Godrays in the scene as well.
