If you are using 3DL you might try some of Jepe's products such as this one: http://www.daz3d.com/jepe-s-flamez-iii-df

or a free one here: http://www.sharecg.com/v/16236/gallery/11/Poser/Muzzle-Blast-prop

See also this thread for some ideas: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/69822/gunshot-effects

You may be able to adapt or retexture some of the ones that are props to use in Iray

If you have ron's explosions and photoshop, you can use photosop's built in File->export->layers to files

Then create a primitive and use the image as a texture for the primitive (also creating a transparency map by converting the image to black and white)

I've done this many times for various flame/debri/smoke effects.

    *edit*

The blast in that image is from Ron's explosions which is why I mentioned that product but there is already a free muzzle flash object either on sharecg or rendorosity, I can't remember which.

Jepes products come with both Iray and 3Delight....so you could easily replicate that with one of his products.

Oops. I missed that FlameZ ( http://www.daz3d.com/jepe-s-flamez-iii-df) was updated to include Iray. I have edited my previous post to correct that.

    Rons Explosions works great. http://www.daz3d.com/rons-explosions

Heres a render I made using Rons Explosions for a muzzle flash.

It's a nice muzzle flash. There are several sites where you can purchase muzzle flash images to add in post work. I haven't found a prop that looks realistic enough personally.

  • So I will find gun burst here: http://www.daz3d.com/rons-explosions ? laugh

  • AnotherUserName did you add that muzzle flash with photoshop? There is any tutorial of that? Is difficult to use?

    Thanks!

There is a cool explosions & Gun muzzel flash prop at sharecg.com, I figured someone would have posted it already.  I pretty sure it wouldn't be hard to covert it to Iray if you wanted to.

    Hi mdmanouusoso,

Yes, that muzzle flash was made from Rons explosions in photoshop. I dont know of any specific tutorials, but if you have some basic knowledge of how to use photoshop you should be able to figure it out with no problem. Im sure that you can find many relevent tutorials without much difficulty.

So that muzzle flash was made from two or three of the effects in rons explosions. Basically, I just transformed them in photoshop until I liked how the flash looked. Then I just placed the completed muzzle flash on its own layer over the render and rotated it into position until it looked good. I made it in photoshop cs4.

The difficult part, for me anyways, is matching the lighting in the render to the flash of the muzzle blast so that it looks like it actually belongs in the scene. If your concerned about matching the lighting then maybe a prop product might be a better solution?

    Hope that helps.

  • Yes please! Do you know any good muzzle flash prop? laugh

pd. You did a great job with that scene!

Thanks. I dont know of any props other than the ones that have been mentioned above. Ive never experimented with any of them so I couldnt recommend anything. Sorry.

Brushes won't show up inside Daz Studio -- they're for postworking after rendering (or modifying textures before rendering).

  • Thanks!!! yessmiley
