I love em too. Your first ones are really beautiful i just wish i could use them more. Something about my computer set up maybe is causing me grief with your first pack. Getting the iray viewport to run at any decent speed is like an effort in futility it takes me so long inbetween refreshes its almost impossible to to set up my lighting without spending hours. I am guessing i dont have enough VRAM to load it all and it dumps it into the CPU. Alot of times i just give in and use an HDRI or sunsky settings to get something accomplished. I will definately check out your new pack when it hits the shelf though.
Daniel
P.S. When i do get it set up it renders really quickly so its not a problem with your pack.
@ D.Robinson "Getting the iray viewport to run"
Instead of using the Interactive mode have you considered just using Photoreal and rendering at a fairly low resolution (~500 x 500 or so). You can get sufficient information to check your lighting in just a couple of minutes. Then just cancel the render and set your resoultion to the desired value.
HI D.Robinson
About the Iray settings.
First of all they should be very quick, as I mentioned some scenes of mine with sky, ground, sun etc...renders to 2000 x1000 in under 4 mins.
If you have a graphics card with very few cuda cores that could be the first thing thats slowing things down,
I have a GTX 970 (1600 cores) and that works well.
As an example the main viewport, if I put one of the new scenes such as Barren valley it renders almost immediately in the Main Viewport (the big one)
If I set that to texture shaded and the Aux viewport to NVIDIA Iray then I can spin the scene for different camera views and it will update pretty much straight away in the Aux viewport.
Water views with reflections are only marginally slower.
Now if you add a lot of buildings, models, extra lights etc...to your scene then things will definitely slow down, depending how much you add.
Some tips
1. Check your card, see how many cores it has
2.Go to Render Settings/Advanced and turn off CPU in Photoreal and Optix, leave the card on in both of these...so only one tick in each of these boxes.
3.Make sure in Editor/Render Mode that Photoreal is on, and the Engine is NVIDIA Iray
4.Most other settings incl these are automaticaly set up for you in the Pre Set scenes, so you shouldnt have to worry about these, but I am just suggesting you chack anyway.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Yah like i said its kinda strange but PC's are little snowflakes. I actually kinda lucked out on my Vid card cause i am relatively new to 3D art in general i had upgraded to GTX 670 a couple years ago just for gaming purposes. When i started in DAZ Iray had just been introduced and this card has 1344 cuda cores. I am thankful cause alot of other strugged with other cards that have less cores. I am only having issues with the iray view option. Rendering times are very fast like you said around 4 to 5 minutes. I will tinker with the settings you suggested and see what i can do. Thanks
Daniel
Yep give that a try...1344 cores is decent...and if the render times are fast, then there has to be something in the DS settings thats causing the problem.
I had a problem with a VST Synth called Massive by Native Instruments, that was very slow when it came to browsing libraries, I struggled with it for ages it seems...changing the properties and directories of the libraries and so on...but when it came to loading and browsing it was like waiting, waiting, waiting....then about a week ago, a guy pointed out a litttle switch in the options menu that had to be disabled.
I tried it and Wow!! problem fixed totally, could not believe it, just a simple thing, but somehow I missed it...so hopefully the preview render window is something like this in your situation, just a simple setting or something turned off that should not be on.
I been fiddling for a bit today with some old scenes that were giving me fits. It seems....and i could be wrong here that Iray gets confused when using mesh light with your skydomes. I had some scenes where i was using spheres with emissive properties. When i deleted them out of the scene and changed the lights to photometric lights. The Iray viewport responds almost immediately. Not sure if its the way mesh lights behave...or some other factor but at least in my case this seems to be whats causing the issue. Thanks for pointing me back to try and resovle this. Now the domes are working as intended.
Daniel
Oh and sorry for bothering. By the by some of your dome materials have S at the end of the name whats the difference? Something like one will be Snow worlds...and the next in the list is Snow worlds S. just wondering what the difference is. Thank you
Daniel
@D.Robinson
Yep extra lights would be the problem, you can only find out a lot of this stuff by trial and error.
The S stands for subsets, they are basically exactly the same as the normal scenes, but they are uncompressed and can be added to anything else you have operating in DS...whereas a Scene will try to clear everything out
Just an update...The Skydome Super Pak is now in final review.
So I am hopeful it will be in the marketplace in the next week or so.
Cheers
I want, I want.
Just another short update.
The Superpak has passed testing several days back, and it is ready for release, but hasnt appeared in the Marketplace yet.
It may be because of the whole build up of products for March Madness as well as the RDNA products coming into the Daz marketplace.
Anyway it should be released very soon.
Cheers

Ooooh night skys
A simple trick that I used in 3delight works just the same in Iray with some differences. To do night scenes in 3delight: I used a spotlight which I shaded dark purple and shone in down on the whole scene. In Iray to do a night scene outdoors: I create a sphere primitive and scale it huge and add a neon shader and adjust the dark purple color and intensity to match the effect I want. Works pretty good and casts shadows. The other option is well lighted night scenes in HDR which work but have too much light.
Sounds interesting
Another trick to the Iray lighting is that you can set cutout opacity so that the sphere is nearly invisible (like, cutout .001). Add in a slightly larger sphere with stars, and you have a nicely lit scene.
I just bought the original product which I think is outstanding. I cant wait for the expansion(s)!
Yep, looking forward to seeing it in the store!
Looks great ...it does.
It would seem that almost every sky dome I have seen for DAZ3D are all missing the exact same thing
No large cityscapes with buildings and skyscrapers zip
put a couple of them in there, then you get on my to purchase list/
I was wondering where those are too...I think I'll have to make some for myself next time I visit NYC. Wonder if I have to buy a new camera or a 10 year old Panasonic 5MB 12x optical zoom will work.
Thanks Will.
That is also very interesting!!
Hey thanks
yeah the skydome is the main feature, but the lighting from both the sun and dome has been very carefully calculated and set uo.
As I build architecture and worlds...i will be adding to it too, I have a lot of ideas...the first package was mainly something that was as near to real world as possible
then you can add on to the main package, or just simply drop architecture in it.
Thanks...I think (although its passed QA and is ready and approved) that there is a congestion of products..probably due to March madness, the absorption of RDNA etc...hopefuilly it wont be too long now.

I bought this as soon as I saw it, and love it, but just like with the previous Iray Worlds pack, I know I'm only making use of a fraction of what it can do. Is there any chance of a User Guide?
Instant buy for me too.... Love these.
Strange. Today Magix 101 is still in the Mad Artists section, but the Iray Worlds SkyDome isn't on sale.
The "Additional Info" in the ReadMe seemed pretty helpful to me?
I think virtually none of the Mad Artists are discounting properly today - it was mentioned in another thread. Maybe when it's a little later in DAZ-Land someone will fix it.
Thanks, Melanie. I looked for a readme last night and couldn't find one, so gave up in the end. Your suggestion that one exists has empowered me with an extra burst of search-stamina and I've found it now :)
I bought the original as soon as it came out and the expansion also fits into the essential category. News of more planned development for them makes them more appealing too.
I did grab it along with some of his older stuff since it looked so good but I need to figure out the best way to use these...
