...pretty much need to win a lotto just to have your own place in the city here in Portland. Rents are getting ridiculous here and there really doesn't seem to be any end in sight. The only people that can afford to stay in the inner neighbourhoods are those who can also afford to (and usually) drive. The more who move here (most of whom come from NYC, the Bay Area and other high priced cities), the higher the prices go. In the next two decades the local population is expected to rise by over 720,000 and with a fixed growth boundary, it will only get tighter as well as even more expensive.
Meanwhile, those who are dependent on other means to get around like walking and/or transit are being shoved to the outskirts where bus service is poor and in many areas, there are no sidewalks.

are those photos or CGI? Thank you as I could not see any fireworks yesterday (due to me being so tired and having no ride to fireworks)
Cool sparkly sky!
PBS on the otherhand is getting flack this morning because their "live" fireworks on TV last night weren't!

And perhaps I need to clear up my comments about the Washington DC "Archive Building" and the Metro and "fancy apartments". The big columned building is "The Archive" building holding government treasures like the "Declaration of Independence" and the "Constitution" and vast storage of other important government documents. It does not contain fancy apartments, nor the underground Metro station, which are both separate and north of the Archives building. I mention this because in the past I've had people question me about DC and realized that there is a lot of ignorance and misconceptions about our nation's capital city. Worst of all was the day I was attending a corporate sponsored class in Rosslyn, Virginia just across the Potomac river from DC. We all had lunch in the restaurant at the top of hosting hotel and could see across the river into downtown DC. There were people attending the class from all over the country. One of the guys, (a presumably well educated engineer) at our table was scanning the city view and asked, completely innocently "What's that tall, skinny, white building with no windows and pointy top?" pointing to the only tall structure in DC*, "The Washington Monument".
I wondered if he also thought we fought the south to get our independence from France in 1920.
Another frequent misunderstanding is something I've encountered several times. While walking on "The Mall" a tourist will come up and ask "Where's the "Smithsonian?". After looking at them blankly for a moment you sweep your hand grandly all around and say in your best tourist guide voice "All of this" then point to the various buildings proudly announcing their functions: "American History", "Modern Art", "Classic Art", "Natural History", "Arts & Industry", "Air & Space", "Smithsonian Castle" as well as the "Hirshorn Museum", "Freer Gallery (Asian art)", "Sackler Gallery" (3 levels underground) behind the Castle), the "Enid Haupt Garden" (roof of the underground Sackler Gallery), and others on The Mall, and several more throughout the city such as the "National Portrait Museum", the Zoo, the Arboretum, etc. "What do you want to see?" They then look confused and usually mutter something like 'airplanes" or "dinosaurs" and you shoo them off toward the appropriate building.

* By law no building in DC can be taller than the dome of the Capitol Building. This means DC's skyline has a very low profile, with most buildings no taller than 12 stories, except for the The Washington Monument (a stone obelisk shaped structure) which towers 555 feet (about 50 stories) tall. See image below taken by drone.

...yeah been toi DC on a few occasions years ago. Was able to still walk down the stairs of the Washington Monument back then (I hear that is closed off now). Pretty cool as they have these large inset carved stone reliefs from each state at every landing in the stairwell. Last time I was there the Smithsonian still didn't have the Air & Space "annex" facility at Dulles yet. Would like to see a "real" Space Shuttle.
Also interesting that the Boeing model 367-80 (the 707 prorotype) is there and not at the Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle (though Boeing does have the prorotype 747-121 and recently received the restored 727 prototype (N7001-U) in the original United livery). They also have a British Airways Concorde and an SR-71 as well. The museum petitioned for a Space Shuttle but was turned down.
Part of me wishes I could quit the 3d stuff and go back to doing just 2d hand drawn stuff. I feel like I make too many mistakes dealing with 3d art stuff.
sorry but where is the wonderful recycling bin in Windows 10. I have been looking for it with no avail. I cannot find it.
On my work laptop, if you right-click on the Window Flag thingie in the bottom left and click on Desktop, it should be there.
I forgot to look at the desktop. Thanks.
...photos, tried taking pics with my phone last night. not too bad. Even shot a short amount of video to see how that would turn out.
Would be cool if someone did an updated Fireworks set especially for Iray that would use the emissive shader. There are some CG firework simulations I've seen that look pretty good.
of course that is where it is Thanks!
