True. Also different people reach different judgements and there's inevitably going to be some inconsistency, which the mods try to minimise by not taking unilateral decisions unless there's a major issue with no one else available to discuss it.

Thanks to everybody that commented on my entry "look out behind you!" I spent a lot of time really trying to get the lighting looking good and a lot of experimenting.
I was hoping that UE in global illumination mode would work but I found that it was just too dark with the other lighting I was using. In the end, I used the uber soft light kit to get the overall ambient light, with a lot of adjusting of the colours to get the look I wanted. There's 1 distant light coming through the window (had to change the settings on the window's glass to allow for transparency, I created a custom transparency map. Converting it to ubersurface also allowed me to use translucency to make it look backlit). Then there's a uber point light in the lantern set to the torch preset to get the warm light there.
Uhm, this thing really is addictive ....

First one is a edited version with slight postwork (adding grain, soft adjusting of tone, no big changes at all) and the second is the unedited version (except fixing errors of the shadows, to show that there's no big edit at the edited version because of the lights I have to use).

I'm hitting panic mode for other reasons, I've got the concept for my 2nd pull and I've got most of the prep work with the figures done but I've only got 4 days left to assemble the scene, lock down the lighting and render.
