UV oddity

I just wanted to apply new shaders to a dress, the original textures all look as if the UV zones are top/bottom/(belt), but the UV is actually split into front and back. Pretty awkward and unusual IMO, is there any good reason for doing it that way? I think I recall a way to alter the UV zones in DS but I can't remember how (I know I can do it in other programs but that's a bit troublesome).

You can do it with the Geometry Editor Tool, there's a tutorial in my sig
Oops, apparently not, tutorial is here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/42088/tutorial-adding-surfaces-in-ds-with-the-geometry-editor-tool
Fixmypcmike, you don't seem to have a sig.
Also, I really advise people to learn Geometry Editor Tool. VERY useful for this kind of thing.
Yep, that's the one, thanks!
