    Ethin, I am in awe of your work with A3.  My dream would be to transfer her textures to Iray.  I am so confused with what you are doing...which is absolutely brilliant.  I read that you try to stay away from creating textures...I think I read that, anyway.

    I know you don't want to give away secrets.  I watched your video.  It's rather overwhelming and deals with morphs, not textures...right??

    This kitbash of outfits is amazing!  I recognize Blossoms Day by FK Design and Sugar by Lady LittleFox. I know the sleeves, however just cannot place them.  The same with the bodysuit and the little skirt.  Would you please reveal all of the outfits that you included here?

    Also, if you are transferring A3 Poser textures to Daz Studio Iray, please, please tell me how you are doing that!!!  I will pay for lessons if that is possible!!

    I know you spend a lot of time on your art and do not want to divulge all of your secrets.  I so much understand!!!

    Thank you!blushheart  I have to admit I’m in awe of my own work as well, it seems like not too long ago that I wasn’t that good.

    To answer your most pertinent question, I’m afraid I don’t use Iray much, what you see here and in 98% of my work is good old 3Delight. In the few Iray renders I’ve done if something didn’t all ready have Iray settings I just copied them from something with a similar surface.   

    @richardandtracy made a Gen3 Iray preset. ( https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/108001/the-older-generation-victoria-2-3-michael-2-3-and-their-children-renders/p16 not too far down the page)

     

    I read that you try to stay away from creating textures...I think I read that, anyway.

    I may have made some comment to give you that impression, but that would be far from the truth, if I have D|S open then photoshop is also open. Not that most of the stuff I make is professional grade or anything, half the time it's sloppy on the fly just good enough for the project at hand.

    Now I haven’t made a whole human skin texture from “scratch” that I can share or sell yet, not for a lack of wanting to or resources or skill, it’s still just a bit too intimidating as of yet.

    The small skirt is also FK’s

    The tiara is from Batlab’s free ballerina set

    The earrings, choker, over skirt, anklets, and shoes are from Sugar

    The sleeves are from CDI/Littlefox’s A3 Ballet

    The swimsuit was made by kobamax, I think it was a freebie from one of the old Japanese poser sites

    Secrets? lol I would gladly help out all I could, but between low social skills and high anxiety I normally just cop out for short simple replies, I spent several hours just trying to figure out a (hopefully) thorough and well worded response for you.

    *sigh* Yeah, my vids are not the most educational things, I don’t have a microphone so I can’t talk about what I’m doing, not that I know the correct terminology, and most of the texture and shader work was done before hand since the focus of the vid is more on the character shape. The only things I edit out of my vids are shots of NSFW texture sheets and library thumbnails.

     

    If you want to know anything else ask away, I’ll try my best to give you a hopefully coherent and timely answer.smiley

    Thank you for such a wonderful reply!  I actually had all of the outfits you mentioned.  Even the Kobomax swimsuit...Oh, I didn't have Batlab's ballerina set, but I have a lot, too many, tiarras :)

    How do I just forget about Aiko 3 when I have so many wonderful things for her that I have never even brought out to play with???

    On your videos...oh, no...I was not complaining.  I think it is wonderful that you can make A3 so absolutely fantastic!

    Anxiety issues?  You are talking the to Queen of Anxiety and OCD.  Please, please, write from your heart.  Don't make your answers perfect.  Not for me!!!  You make art from your heart...I see that.

    I only used Poser until 2018.  I came on the Daz Studio scene when Iray was already a thing.  I don't think I can even render in 3Delight :(  I don't know how.

    I am so sorry I am just replying.  I have been backing up a lot of stuff recently.  Talk about my OCD...2 External Hard drives with my runtimes being on a third.  Most of the freebies I have collected since 2005 even on my One Drive cloud.

    I may lose it all tomorrow,  but I think I have backed up enough!

    It is really a pitty, that the MFD for generation 3 isn't any longer available! @richardandtracy would really like to use it, now he has to try with g2 MFD.

    Started out as a conversion of MDD's Siara over to A3, but then the bonus butterfly skin gave me some ideas... 

    Also made a custom "Monarch" texture for FK's Lumino Wings, not too bad for 20 min of effort.

    That is just so good. And only 20 minutes effort. Boy, you've had some practice doing this sort of thing to do it that fast. Incredible.

    The skin looks really good both where the tattoos are and elsewhere

    Just to clarify the 20 minutes was on the wing texture, I spent something like 8 hours or more on her altogether.

    Thanks!smiley   I've spent a great deal of time trying to get 3DL to look as good as possible since I don't have the hardware to render most of my images in Iray.

    I found that I had picked up Vyria as a "weekly" freebie at some point, I don't have Arabella 7 so can't really use the character shape, not that I use genesis 3 much anyway, but I think the textures kinda cool... so I made my own version for Aiko 3 (with some embellishment).

    WOW, that so looks like Iray! And this time even a complex scene. Lighting superb, candles in the forground and background awesome - hope others who know generation3 will see soon, too!

    Thanks, I suppose I need to take a step back more often so I can see and appreciate my own improvements for myself.

     

    Thank you. Just wish I could come up with some fitting scenery for her. But my muse has long since moved on, and "she" is now waving something else in my face. ("I don't want to do a swamp with zombies, neither of those are cute, besides I live in a desert so what do I know about swamps")

     

    The floral pattern was just a random google image search result, not sure where it came from.

    You never fail to amaze me.  Yes, sometimes I have to go back through your forum to see things again.

    I love this so much. 

    Ok, where did you get the Monarch texture for the wings?  Where did you get these awesome boots for A3?

    Anytime you had rather not answer, I perfectly understand!!
