Coupon Code rejected

Background: I am a Premiere member trying to buy one of today's featured artist's characters, called Amaury. I have today's Golden Ticket in my shopping cart. 
Mr. Amaury is listed for $11.25 on today's featured artist menu. In my shopping cart he is listed as costing $6.75, a 40.0% reduction. 
I did not apply any other discounts.
The problem: When I try to apply today's "30-gets-you-30" I am told "Coupon code is not valid". 
My question: Should the code be rejected? Am I doing something wrong?

    Several people reported that the coupon currently doesn't work for them in the sales error thread.

    Same is happening to me, please fix it, I got some items in the cart, if not solved I will dump the cart.

    same here, apparently new releases are not featured artists, only the ones in the catagory at the bottom where they do apply.
