when it's released if I have spare coins, it will get me to install D|S6 again

I am wondering if umblefugly's Nature Tools will clash, I may buy both depending on finances

anything that makes D|S more Carrara like is good to me

  • Yeah, I'm hoping the two products don't come out at the same time, because I'll probably want both.
  • Well Ecology Painter looks more useful to me as I already have UltraScenery. If I could only afford one based on my current impressions, it wouldbe Ecology Painter plus Ill be able to open the scenes in DS4 so thats a big plus, actually a requirement for me. The only thing I neglected to ask, what is the minimum GPU requirements? Is a 6GB RTX 2060 gonna cut it? I realize probably iray preview won't be possible but I am ok with that as long as I can use it and render it without crashing.

GPU is only related to rendering and rendering is related really to how much you paint. Ecology Painter works in Texture Shaded mode when paintng, as having to restart the Iray preview render for every thing painted is very cumbersome.

    Wow this looks great.

Presumably DS6 only though? (I'm stuck on DS4.21 until I can acquire new hardware). Still it's something to look forward to when that happens!Yes

Yes, DS 6 only, mostly because DS 4 doesn't really cut it when it comes to things like this, too slow, too shaky, basically too old core.

Can the terrain mesh that is created in this in DS6 be saved as a scene and opened in DS4 at least? Or would that not be possible?

As these are std DzInstanceGroupNodes, yes, you can paint in 6 and open in 4 to render

Okay, that might make it worth picking up for me.  I can't see moving away from DS4 in the near future as the odds are that a lot of my favorite scripts and pplugins won't make the transition, but Iif I could do this in DS5 and then finish in DS4, that gives me a better potential workflow.  Also, in your promo videos, it would have caught my attention much better better if you had started off with the images of the finished results first and then shown the how to portion.

Saved scenes in my plugin do work in DS 4, it was one of my first requirements before building the bridges for Cinema 4D and Blender.

Yes, that's for me too, the issue is setting up scenes in DS 4, which requires a whole bunch of lay on hands before it will work reasonably well,,

  • Any idea how soon this will be released? I know you can't give exact dates, but during this PA sale or will it be later in the year?

I think the year is really dependent on the QA backlog.

@Totte, would it be possible to apply colors to a character's skin? I am thinking of portraits where the artist uses different shades to portray the person's face. I am not talking about blush and makeup, but the skin to add shadows and highlights in varied locations.

Not really, as this paints with instances, but I do have other plans on my too long list of things to add to DS 6.

Thank you. And I am enjoying the updated USC on DS6 now. Worked wonderfully.

I will watch for this anyway and hope for further add-ons.
