How do I share a character with all the assets it uses?
Hi, ss there a way to share a finished character so the other person gets the same look without rebuilding it morph by morph and reapplying textures?
I don’t want to send a long list of products and settings. I want to package the character and whatever it actually uses (shape, materials) so they can load it and have it look the same.
What’s the simplest way to do that in Daz Studio?
Thanks.

A Character preset saves morphs and textures.
A persona preset saves morps, textures, clothing and other wearables.
But of course the recieving person must have the same products/morphs/items to use it.
So if I save a Scene Subset of a character and only check the character and any parented objects, is that the same as saving as a Persona? Because that is how I usually save a character. I never had any idea what a Persona was so I never tried it. I basically save everything as Scene Subsets because that always seemed the safest to me.
A Scene Subset is just a pure Set of figures / objects while Persona is a Preset. A Persona can be either loaded into the scene like a subset... or applied to a figure to change the figure's shape, materials as well as load the wearables saved within the Preset ~
So, they can be used for different purposes.
Edit: In my exp. the loading speed of a Subset is a little bit faster than a Persona Preset ...
So there isn't a script that lets you, I don't know, create a “package” of your character and share it in its entirety without having to tell people, “You need these assets”?
No, you cannot share the products used in your character no matter by a package or whatever means....because that's against the license agreement in here.
This script product helps: https://www.daz3d.com/md-list-of-products-used
You can export the used products to a TXT file for sharing ~~
Or, you can share the head / body morphs as well as the texture maps that you created yourself... rather than the used products.
There is an utility which allows you to create a package with all files associated to a scene.
However you are not allowed to share the resulting archive as that would mean redistributing parts of Daz products, which is forbidden by the license agreement. Only exception would be if you created the content of the scene 100% from scratch yourself and didn't use any existing asset (except assets explicitely provided as merchant resources which allow redistribution).
Actually
, at least with Genesis 8 and 9 (no idea if it's possible with older generations), Post Load scripts can be used to load wearables with a Character preset, including clothes:
It does load the character wearing SU One Piece Sweater with the red material preset applied (I could have set SelectAsset to False because Sue Yee is using H.Mats but I didn't think about checking it before creating the character preset and I prefered to err on the side of caution), but I doubt anyone is using them to do so: Post Load scripts are painful to set and the whole process is incredibly finicky and error prone…
Edit:
I just copy-pasted the content type of the sweater, but I have no idea why it is defined as Actor/Character in the Scene Identification window when it should likely be something than Follower/Wardrobe/Full-Body

A Persona preset should be as safe as saving a scene subset and is faster, especially when you want to save a preset in a busy scene: you just have to select your character, ask Daz Studio to save a Persona preset and that preset will automatically include every item parented to the selected character (beware that items who are fitted to the character without being parented to it will not be saved, but it's usually not the case with modern outfits).
Overall, Persona presets should be as safe as Scene subset, are as easy, possibly a tiny bit easy to save than them while offering the possibility to fully replace a character by another while keeping the replaced character pose.
Both are way easier and faster than using character presets to save a character, but neither are offering the possibility to replace a character by another while keeping all the clothes and accessories the old character is wearing (it may clothes if some are loaded on the character, but I don't know to what extend and it's a bit late to continue testing my newly created character preset, considering how long each attempt takes).
