likely too late for D|S4 but I really wish one could cancel a save

I have a scene subset still saving up to 14mil so far

it's gping to be impossible to load anyway so once done will be excluding stuff and saving again

simulation data is the problem, namely a strandbased hair

plus a second one I didn't simulate which is possibly even bigger

I will be saving it seperately once I can

its been saving for a couple hours

I don't want to lose 3K frames of clothing sim that didn't explode

that wont be a big save. it's the strandbased hairs that are

but I cannot cancel this unwanted save

I used to have the same experience... I couldn't cancel a long save (with dForced items on timeline as well) either so I had to wait till the save finished with a file size appr. 4GB ( the save took 40 mins IIRC... not a big deal though)

I think DS doesn't allow cancelling a save process so as to assure the integrity of DUF file... The only way to stop the save is to kill the DS session.

I will moving forward break everything up intio smaller scene subsets

and am seriously rethinking using Dforce strandbased hair

I am probably going to lose today's work though

    update

without the hairs my save took 1 minute

    129MB

    with hairs 3 hours!

    14.9GB!

I am now saving just the one simulated hair over the first save
