Doll Drama

“Fashion Dolls” (Barbies) were always a big hit with all the girls I knew when I was a kid.  We loved them, made clothes for them, did their hair, and carried them back and forth between each other’s houses.  I’m pretty sure that was the vision that the toy companies had when they designed them.  But when it came to actually playing with them, mine almost never had fashion shows or went on cute little dates or any of the stuff that it looked like kids were playing in the commercials and such.  No, for me and my friends, we combined our dolls and their stuff with toy dinosaurs, plushie tigers, action figure playsets (sometimes borrowed from brothers or cousins lol), and things like that.  My dolls, for instance, only dated GI Joes, and some 12 inch Batman and Iron Man dolls(?)/action figures that I found at a garage sale.  They were sometimes armed with tiny little swords, as well, so that they could properly defend themselves if GI Joe wasn’t around.

So here is my tribute to the crazy lives of fashion dolls!
