How can I git rid of noise in my render of indoor scenes? Is this casused by the lighting?

When my render is finished, on an indoor scene, I have noise instead of a smooth finish. What causes this, i[s it lighting] and how do I fix this so I get a smooth render?

OK this is the render,
Probably lack of lightyes, not quantity but rather having lights that can easily reach into the scene - the more you rely on light bouncing around to hit a surface the longer it will take to reach a settled value. As it is some pixels are showing areas that have hit a light beam several times and others are areas that have rarely if ever met a light beam, so the tonal value varies a lot.
Thank you. I found a tutorial online that shows how to use the denoiser & it also said deleting stuff like unseen walls & props will help with the lighting. I'm trying that now so will see how it turns out
I know I had to sometimes delete walls in Poser when I was working in that program
Thank you for your help, I got it pretty good using what to do in DS & then I fixed it better in Paint Shop Pro
The trouble with deleting walls etc. is that the results can look unnatural, depending on what you are aiming for. With rooms you generally want to use local lights (points, spots, and light-emitting objects) rather than distant lights or an HDRI environment.
One thing you can also try, especially for scenes where you want it to be dark, is to go to render settings, select progressive render, then increase the Max Samples and Max Time sliders. This allows Iray to process more iterations whick will get rid of the noise without using denoisers. Depending on the render I sometimes find tha tthe denoiser (either internal or external) can make it look a little off.
I currently set my values to 15000 iterations and 36000 seconds (10 hours). With my system I have never had a render go that long - it hits the max iterations way before then.
I would suggest to add a weak area light, could be a point light with geometry or my ever used emissive planes, and then increase Tone Mapping in Render Settings, to keep it dark.

First of all, your art is great that you have shown us!!! I just don't think you let it "Process" long enough. Daz Studio must take it's time to process your art with many factors. If you have a computer that is not very powerful like I do, you must be patient.
My art is slowly getting better since I changed my render settings and you can see for yourself in my gallery that I rarely have noise!
This is the best advice I ever got for rendering and I did NOT list who told me :(

Personally, I crank min samples all the
way up, unlock max samples and add a few zeros
and crank that all the way up, move quality
into the hundreds, set time to zero, and cook
it until I think it looks good. A lot of times
I set it to rendering, then watch a movie or
workout or something, come back and give it a
look every 20 mins or so so I am not feeling
like I am waiting forever. Usually I render
large at at least 3k pixels for the shorter
length, and average it takes 45 minutes or
so to finish to my liking on my gtx 1070,
unless it's outdoors and lit mostly or
fully with HDRI,
then it can be as little as 20 minutes.
turn off "Render Quality" and let it run a
specifig
no of samples.
Control the render with the max samples
setting
(I use 5000 but you may want higher depending)
and remember you can always stop it when it
looks
good enough for you.
Edit: Another thing I try to do is render at 2x
the desired resolution and resize/down sample in
an image editing package like photoshop or
gimp.
A couple of things to keep in mind — in an
Iray
render, the surface materials and the lighting
setup is even more important than in a 3Delight
render, and even more sensitive to getting it
"not quite right", so you will end up tweaking
settings a lot. Also, an Iray render doesn't run
once and it's finished, it keeps running until it
hits one of the three stop condition limits (time,
iterations and convergence %). The render will stop
whether or not the materials and lighting are "not
quite right" enough to prevent the render from
looking good.
Hit cancel or Esc key to stop rendering. Let it finish
or you will lose your render.

I let my renders run all night :) My computer is old, but hanging in there.
Please try this before purchasing expensive lights!!
Also, go into Daz Studio Environment under Render Settings.
Change the Environment Mode to Sun-Sky as I have circled in the attached.
Play with the Time of Day to adjust the lighting.

I always bump ISO Film in tone mapping to 200 (or more). It increases brightness without washing out. (Well, really high values will wash out but 200 is only double the default.
I also have a bunch of emissives I've created.
Create a radial gradient where the center is white and edges are black. Apply that to the luminance field as a mask. Works great for planes, and not much else.
Or
create a plane with 5 division. In geometry editor, delete (1,2), (1,4), (3,2), (3,4), (5,2); (5,4), and all of rows and columns 2 and 4. Allows for scaling up to light a big scene without having meters and meters of light. (also works with 7 divisions and deleting 2, 3, 5, and 6)
That's one way; another way is to increase or decrease exposure value. tonemapper.

the tonemapper should have zero impact on the noise, because its post process / after the image was rendered.
A great image denoiser would help a lot, intel is developing the best one at the moment and its open source. DAZ could implement it

its possible to use it without a DAZ Studio implementation but then it doesnt take the normal maps etc in account.
You could try to add some more light, perhaps even render the scene out a little brighter than what you have in mind, then adjust it in Photoshop/Gimp/Affinity to make it slightly darker. Increasing the iterations and the path length (or setting the path length to -1) might help as well. It will increase render time though.
Usually fireflies / noise like that is due to either not giving the render enough time (either cancelling it early, or having settings that decides it's finished too early) or not having enough light. For an evening scene you can even use a blue colored light to give the impression of darkness even if the scene is actually fairly well lit.
Something you could try is placing a ghost light plane in the top / roof of the bed, about the same size as the "roof" of the bed (or the ceiling of the room itself if the bed is open), and make it shine downward. Even a fairly dim ghost light might resolve your issue. It's often that there isn't enough light and the little light that is present needs to bounce too much to fill the scene that results in these fireflies. So adding an ambient light that fakes light bounce from ceilings often helps. If there's a bedroom window, or you want to fake one, you can also place a ghost light rectangle where the window is and make it shine into the room, faking light from outside. (something similar could be done with the opening at the bottom of the door in your scene, but not sure how realistic that would look if you add too much light emission from there).
