Saving pose...again

martin36martin36 Posts: 185

Guys, I need help figuring out how to save a figure pose properly, for example for Genesis 8, so that the character doesn’t move when I load the pose again and no morphs get saved. Do I have to uncheck everything manually, or is there a faster method, maybe some tool or script for this? Which settings I should keep just for pose? no expressions needed as well. I know there is few discussions about this but I couldn;t found any detailed instruction as I want upload some freebies and I need this to be done properly.

I'm not sure if this would work.

    1. Load your figure and give him/her some simple clothes (for thumbnail modesty purposes). Pose the figure. Drop the figure to the floor (CTRL+D).

    2. While the figure is selected, File->Save As->Pose Preset. Give a file name.

    3. Expand the properties and uncheck General, Hidden, and Pose Control. I'm not sure if unchecking the General->Transforms->Translation is enough.

    4. Save your preset.

    5. Test the pose by clearing the scene and loading a new figure.

    6. Move the test figure a little bit to the side.

    7. Apply your pose and check if the figure moved.

    8. Package the DUF and PNG files in one (zip) file.

I'm sure there are products that would automate this for you.

I would add as a 3a) Click on the 4 bar menu on the right of the save options panel, and select Check Only->Check All Transforms Only (or alternatively just Check All Rotations Only, most poses have no scaling or translations).

Using this step you avoid also saving all the pose controls under head (ie all the expressions), and any pose controls on the hands. Depending how many expression sets you have, this can considerably speed up the time it takes to apply the pose.
