Cate 9 has graced us with her presence. While described as elegant and commanding, I get more of the "Trust No One" and "The Truth is Out There" vibe from her.

Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada?
Gillian Anderson - The X-Files?
https://www.daz3d.com/xi-ny-fashion-office is probably a tell.
The main product page won't open - broken link.
The blurb says she has mature skin and even cellulite (morph). Wow! I didn't think those existed in that industry.
Mada! Wit cho bad self!
was thinking some of the promos remind me of Gillian Anderson and she's worn stuff like that including the open blouse in last promo pic
Just occured to me, Cate is close to Cat (Grant), a DC Comics character. In the various comics, shows & movies, she's moved up the career ladder as fashion writer/reporter, media mogul (& Supergirl's boss), & White House press secretary.
Same height as Gillian Anderson and even the same beauty mark under her left nostril.
'Also, the red circle around the 9 on the splash page is often how the x in the x-files logo was circled.
The font style and the red circle on the banner are suggestive of 'X-Files' and thus the Gilian Anderson vibe, but there's probably a wider range of stuff there - I can see the Meryl Streep and DWP tie-in too.
I don't know the premiere exclusive is named Clarrise and has an FBI badge. That doesn't work with the fashion office, does it?
That was my call based on the promotional images
Clarrise not showing in my Smart content tab for download.
Cate 9 is a pleasant surprise!
I've been cursing to myself just lately since Minerva 9 never goes on substantial enough sale for me to afford her. I'm specifically after some quality, mature female textures, so this is a pleasant surprise and I'll definitely be adding Cate 9 to the wishlist.
As with Minerva 9, I'll just have to make an exception and 'suck it and see' when it comes to the bits I cannot see in the promos!
I have one ask for @BeautyWorks, please do an update to https://www.daz3d.com/bw-timeless-denim-outfit-for-genesis-9 and its texture set, https://www.daz3d.com/bw-timeless-denim-outfit-textures-add-on and add the buttonholes to the jacket. I do love the jeans.
If I can do it in Marvelous Designer and I can't understand why a professional PA can't do it.
That was my only quibble with this Cate 9 release.
I like the characters, the hair, the set, and the clothes besides my quibble. My goodness, normal streetwear clothing suitable for a woman to actually wear in public! And what I can see in Target in Denver. Thank you for that.
Does anyone know where to get this hair & makeup from for Cate 9?
It's obviously Gillian Anderson... So where is the David Duchovny charater to go along with it?
I do like the unique look of this character.
I like this one a lot, it's a bit more unique than some of the recent female models.
Does anyone know the outfit she is wearing in the first picture of her product page?
I went through my runtime looking for short hair and found three possibles, but the best one is G8F. In order of possible:
https://www.daz3d.com/janey-hair-for-genesis-8-and-81-female
https://www.daz3d.com/fraiz-hair-for-genesis-9
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-bixie-cut-hair-for-genesis-9
They all have morphs, but Janey and Fraiz have the most complex ones that get you closest to the limited view we can see in that image. Me, I would work on using Janey. It has a really nice assortment of blonde colors also. But don't let that limit you, there are a lot of great hair shaders to choose from. Just pick the right one for the type of hair you are working with.
Makeup - no clue. Sorry I buy them, but rarely use them.
Gillian Anderson all the way. Looks good but i don't know how to feel about having all new core figure being lookalikes. On the plus side it allow Daz to avoid accidental 'clones/sisters/causins'.
Now....What's up with the horrible release promo? I mean, 20% extra for premier/daz+ and.......abosolutely nothing else. I was not expecting it to be as 'good' as Aro with so many stacking discounts because that was still MM, but this one is bad, really really bad.
it all depends on your situation. The products are 55% off to start, then the 20%. If you have 8 tokens, thats another 45%, so at least for DO items, a pretty decent discount. If you have your $10 coupon for Premiere members...your're cooking. so the Cate9 bundle , for instance, is $8 US
I think it's this one: Makeup System - Everyday Makeup for Genesis 9
No. The $10 coupon doesn't make Cate cheaper. It makes everything you buy the entire month $10 cheaper. By your logic, Cate9 is free since you can use the character bundle freebie on it.
And compared to former sales they sales since MM (and even during MM) have been subpar.
Personally, it makes me very, very weary of purchasing core figures. I don't want to get a random cease&desist or worse, lawsuit, because I rendered a figure that looks too close to someone. I usually avoid PA specializing in lookalikes, but it's becoming a mindfield with a few other PAs having some lookalikes characters too.
I know that there's always inspiration and kind-of-sort-of resemblance, and that's fine, because people look similar, but the closer and more recognizable it gets, the more wary I become. (And I don't even render any NSFW or "questionable" content.)
As someone mentioned, its most likely Janey Hair using Bangs01 preset. They must be using custom shaders for the hair in the promo though. If you just apply the default Janey Hair with that preset01, the default texture wont look as good unless you modify it.
Just noticed the 2nd image of the Premiere figure Clarrise has her wearing Scully's FBI badge, too.
I like Cate for the cellulite details on the legs and body textures, especially how they blend wiht normal maps from other characters at different intensities and the celullite morph.
That said, I found the diffuse maps to have a somewhat strange color grading similar to what I saw in Nadine and Leona, with some oversaturation and strong contrast which pushes the realism away. I also feel the normal maps are a bit low in intensity (details are there but "faded"). Even in the first main promos the wrinkles are barely noticeable and seem to rely more on the diffuse map to be noticeable.
Because of this, the first main promos may give the character a lower quality first impression than it actually deserves. It might be worth mentioning to whoever is preparing those promos that some of the texture settings seem to be dialed down more than desired on their program, as my first impression with Aro and Sigrid was the same and I ended up loving both when I played with the textures myself. Some of the other thematical promos made her textures shine more.
I really loved Aro, Sigrid, Everett and Cate, in that order, they set the bar high. I rather have more celebrity lookalikes if that means we can leave the “sisterlikes” era from previous months behind.
You don't mix faces to make them look less "stock" by default?
