...yeah tel me about it whne it comes to cpmputer gear it is obscene.
My AM5 upgrade (for my old 14+ year old system) is still even more unaffordable (as memory prices jumped again) breaking the 3,100 USD barrier (last week it was just under 2,700) This is primarily for a new MB, CPU and cooler (air), 96 GB DDR5, a 1 TB M2 drive, and Win11 Pro (I already have a 3060 12 GB (so don't currently need a GPU)
When i upgradem I try to "future proof" as much as can.
Even the DDR4 fallback (64 GB) has also increased to just shy of 1,700 USD thanks to decreasing availability of modules.
shoes -- yeah, is been at least 10 years since I bought my last pair. I wear them until holes come through the soles. Shirts the same. I'm on my last one that I bought over 20 years ago. What's interesting those old ones fit even though I've gained weight. Nothing new fits st the size I used to buy. They've shrunk just like the amount of chips in a bag. I will say, I buy my jeans for $15 a pair, which is about the same price as the clothes in this store.
,..still wearing the shoes I bought 9 years ago and fortunately they have held together nicely. The soles are still solid with no thi spots which is (important here in the "usually" rainy Northwest). They are slip-ons and still fit nice and snug with no slop. I moved to that style as arthritis has made bending down and tying/untying laces a frustrating challenge.

My current slip-ons (for errand running and such) are doing fine after about 8 years of occasional wear. Impressive, considering I got them on clearance for $10 at Target.
My walking shoes only last about a year, though in fairness I put on about 1,000 miles on them, and I'm pushing a heavy wagon-stroller (often up hills) while I do it, so I'm sure that adds to the wear an tear.
My winter boots are from 1996. Still going strong and quite warm. I'll probably still be wearing them another 30 years from now.
I envy folks who can get away with $10 shoes. I end up spending ~$60/pair for middle-of-the-road Sketchers that might last a year or $110/pair for the Merrell moccasin shoes that are better made and feel best on my feet. The latter lasts me for 3-4 years of use, mostly because I buy 2 pair and alternate them. The former... Fit is all over the board from model to model and build quality is a bit Sketchy. I don't get it!

getting off topic a bit, but if I paid that much for a pair of shoes I would expect them to last at least 10 years without alternating. I have a 55$ pair of Sketchers that I've been wearing at least 10 years..yesh, they look scruffy, but they still work just fine. Bottom tread a bit lacking, but I'm careful on wet surfaces.

That's not actually all that bad for shoes to last 3-4 years. I have old shoes, but I barely wear them and have replaced them as my go-to shoes. I love Merrell's shoes. At this point I won't buy anything else (dress shoes excepted, but I don't need those often). I've got a pair of sport sandals from them that are excellent for walking in. Unfortunately they've stopped making that style, so I'm going to have to find a different pair when these wear out.
My G9 people could use some comfy shoes. I do not appreciate heels on everything.
i wish I could be as frugal buying DAZ clothes as I am with my real ones
It’s not actually that difficult; given the steadily rising cost of living, the noticeably higher price level on DAZ—combined with offers that are mostly lackluster and usually tied to the purchase of a high-priced qualifying item—makes the decision (for me personally) relatively easy.
Since the turn of the year, I have only picked up the free items, as none of the offers really convinced me.
I find that a real shame, because I actually enjoy shopping at DAZ.

It reeally depends on the quality of shoe. I had a pair of Addidas once that lasted over 10 years before I had to retire them from publich use as they were just too gungy. I had what I thought were a really nice pair of boots where the heels wore down at a weird angle and they became unwearable in less than a year... after which I never touched that brand again. For the last twenty years or so I've been a die-hard fan of Rockports, he most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, and usually owning both a black and a brown pair of sneakers, as well as a one venerable pair of black dress shoes that I've had for the full 20 years as they only come out for weddings and funerals. The sneakers usually last at least six years until they get so scuffed that they're visually distracting... I do a LOT of walking... but all of those old pairs are still perfectly wearable, with the scruffiest still coming back into service when I have to do yard-work while it's muddy, etc.

The one big advantage to shopping at DAZ is that at least it doesn't fill my house up with random stuff, just my harddrives. Pretty much the same reason I switched to buying all my books electronically, actually. Beyo9nd that, well... I've run the numbers, and in terms of cost and hours invested , it's now actually often cheaper to hire a live model for a photoshoot against greenscreen than it is to do the same thing with DAZ figures.
...hmm "free offer" coupon for 10$ off D+ items, almost all of which are full price. Once again poor proofreading of the sale copy as there is just over a page of items tagged as "New" which according to the conditions of the offer, are excluded (I tested a few items and all returned tue Coupon not Valid error).
The code does work on DOs in the Featured Artists section. but the selection is pretty lean (only 3 pages at 120 items/page even when I uncheck Hide Owned) and a majority of items are poses for which I have utilities to create my own.
I'll just bide my time until the PA sale and sign up for one month of D+ then.
I managed to track down a contemporary G8M outfit on sale I didn't have, though it's getting harder to find any, and used the coupon. I'm trying hard to not buy anymore G8F clothing...failing miserably but trying.
Didn't work when I tried to get Michael or Victoria 9, both only 3.99 and didn't work. Tried the van for 1.99 and same thing. What is going wrong with the coupon.

Victoria 9 is currently in Quick Grab. (Not sure about Michael) The van is likely in the Outlet. Both of which are automatically excluded from any promotion, unless stated otherwise.

I chose a DO item that cost less than $10 (XI Desert Port $9.45) and with the coupon GET-ROWDY I got it for free and it's quite recent. It's a gift. Thanks DAZ
I just tried it and got this error message when applying the code... "Coupon code is not valid "
For reference the item I chose was "Annissa HD for Genesis 8 Female" for $3.99
And I choose her from the list they link you to on their GET-ROWDY promo page ... https://www.daz3d.com/daz-originals#index=0&order=popular^1&filtered=1 ;

The link is to all existing Daz Originals, and not all of them are elligible for the coupon: new releases, Daz+ items, and then Outlet Store and Quick Grab items are always excluded from any promotion (unless specifically included).
If that's the case, the why the heck does DAZ put a direct link in their promo to a list items that aren't all eligable for the coupon code?
So now if I see something that I might like while scrolling stuff there, I have to jump through hoops to see if the code actually works or not?
Why don't they link us to a list of only eligable items? Like they did for previous promos like APRIL-SHOWERS, MAY-FLOWERS and CINCO-BABY.

Personally, I'd rather jump through the hoops (which aren't really challenging ones from my perspective: exclude new releases, D+, and OS/QG are pretty normal, common things, not some complicated "your product must contain letter A but not letter Y and you must have a new release in the cart which price has to have digits adding up to 934" requirements) rather than Daz say, "okay," and just not give us discounts like this one anymore. Something something something gifted horse.

Good news: the 2.99 limit has been lifted, and more items are now included in the storewide promotion.
Bad news: prices have increased, and many items are still not included in the storewide promotion to avoid multiple discounts.

Thanks @Butterflyfish! I agree with you both about Merrell shoes and about heels on everything.
@Cybersox I'll have to look into Rockports. They sound promising, anyway.

...You can't use the $10 off coupon on a $9.99 item. Really guys? I don't care about the penny, let me use the code!
Hu?
I just tested it, and as long as it's not a new item or any of the non eligible item, it does work on item under $10:
Keep in mind that there is a system removing tokens when a cart is free.
You're right, sorry. It's just one specific item, namely Vicky 9.
Where's my Free Gift?!
Use code Get-Rowdy to get $10 off Daz Originals?!
That's a free gift?!
Picked up https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-practical-ponytail-hair-for-genesis-9 for free with the $10 coupon... lots of nice morphs, and you get the earring too!
Thanks, Daz!
