This is not aimed at anyone in particular. More of a trend I've been noticing on the forums.

I think the problem is when someone comes in and only complains, and when there's one of the two attitudes: the negativity that spreads on other people's joy or the entitlement tone. This is what I think usually gets people and makes them react. Because we all complain sometimes, but when there's nothing but complaining, including things that are just how Daz works (for example, Outlet Store refreshing only once a month and offering older items or Quick Grab not stacking with any other items), it becomes tiresome to those who maybe sometimes complain and not always find good sales, but still enjoy checking the daily sales to see if there's anything. It's not about silencing people, but simply, people don't like to be around constant Negative Nancies, especially the ones whose constant dissatisfaction ruins the fun for others.

And there is a difference between being part of the community, discussing Daz stuff and deals, sharing renders, and complaining when there's something to complain about, and an approach of coming to the forum to inform everyone every so often to announce one's displeasure about Daz not catering to one's personal preferences. I'm not happy with all the sexywear and other "boring" contemporary stuff that we seem to have had a lot recently, but I don't feel like coming here and airing it, ruining the fun for those who were tired with all the "ridiculous fantasy stuff" or "weird alien stuff" and are happy to see some realistic (or semi realistic clothing). There's always another sale. If I don't buy today, it's more money to get something tomorrow, when some great offer comes.

I get being frustrated with the prices rising. 70% off now isn't as good as it used to be a couple of years ago. I know that those prices cause many people being unable to shop (I'm not spending much either), but deals in between big sale months have never been super good (with the exception of some random sales, flash sales, offers, etc. spread out througout the non-sale months). It's normal. It's been like that for the 5 (or however many) years I've been with Daz. They require buy-ins from limited collections. Discounts aren't always deep. It's normal. Then, a big sale will come again.

Lately it feels like: “oh cool, another creepy Tabitha 9 or Xola 9 or Zack 9 derivative dwarf with slightly different ears and abs and no real new textures.” That stuff keeps happening because people buy them and nobody pushes back.

I'm convinced that stuff is AI generated.

That said it's the cheapest "buy in" option.

I assume 100% of the proceeds go to Daz as opposed to the 50% with a PA item.

If the cheapest PA item for buy in was 13.29 after 30% "new release" discount and you had 8 tokens to use, Daz gets an extra 20c if you went with the Daz Original item, while PAs probably see a decline in sales of their new releases.

The cheapness of the item will lower the resistance of many people into spending on that day, but I wonder how much the extra few cents from 85-90% discounted items increases PA income to compensate.

Hmm... The flash sale is proudly "featuring Zeddicus, (...), Polish, (...), Mousso," and each of them seems to have only 1 item in that sale.

Hmmmm. Nostalgic? Not a very apt sale name considering what's on offer. Seems more random than anything. Disappointing sale today.

I got a great cart including some of the AM animals (croc, eagle, mammoth) and misc vechicles/environments that are on sale in the Alphabet Soup promo. Was going to explore a second cart, but the discounts stopped working after one. I'm hoping it's a glitch - but if not, it'd be the first time I've seen Daz run a single-use offer without it involving a coupon code - for now, maybe assume it's one cart max.

Can someone explain why the promo theme is called Alphabet Soup?

I can't tell if Daz is having another word salad moment or if I need another cup of coffee.

(I'll own it if I missed something obvious. It's been a long day, and there's several hours left, so I think my brain is rationing what processing power remains.)

When I tried to key enter the May PA coupon code I wasn't sure about the format and every permutation I tired was rejected.  So I lost the PA coupon and had to dump items from the cart.

The coupon all start with MONTH_YEAR then the name of the coupon, so XX_26SAVE6 for all the 2026 PA Daz+ coupons, where XX is the number of the month.

If you're on the last day of, let's say, april, and the system is already showing you the may coupon, just replace 05 by 04 and it'll work.

...ah, I thought the coupon name came first. I usually just copy the code from he membership page and paste it in on the cart rather than key enter it.  When it is the last day of the month I do change the code to the current month

Actually as Wednesday was not the last day of the month, the May code should have still appeared on the membership page since my membership had not "officially" expired yet.  It was still about 40 minutes before 00:00 "Daz time" [which is 23:00 where I live] when I opened cart page to mae the purchase.. If you cancel a membership or renewal before its expiration date, you still get the benefits of the remainder until the date it was last activated or renewed.

In today's 'Alphabet Soup' sale I discovered things that I wanted for a long time, but which were never discounted (or that I never saw in time). All without buy-in, which has often kept me from a sale when I absolutely did not like the new releases. A great and exciting sale!

They have 8 hour rotating deals. I'll speculate they plan to randomly span the alphabet and provide something of interest to everyone.

Ohhhh.... okay, if you click on the link, the (current) URL says A-D. I didn't click on it before I typed my question (not interested in any of the buy-ins, so seemed pointless). I was just looking at the sale page and thinking some sort of explanation would be forthcoming there. I should know better LOL.

    https://www.daz3d.com/xi-canal-village looks like it was inspired a lot by the Dutch village of Giethoorn: https://giethoornvillage.com/ ;

It definitely is, including the thatched roofs on modern houses. Thatched roofs are a requirement in Giethoorn, on both old and new houses, to maintain the village's protected aesthetics. They're extremely expensive to insure.
Kinda missing the traffic jam of tourists in their boats, I'm sure the village council has considered laying some guiding railtrack in the canals to keep the flow going. The village is just 40 kilometers (less than 30 miles) away from me, but I practically never go there because of the crowds.

Is it just as over-touristed as Amsterdam?

Sadly, yes. It is definitely a really nice village, and it does definitely deserve the attention, but it is also too small to be really capable of handling that attention. It's just the curse of tourism. It's welcome, it's beneficial, but it's also a huge burden to the people actually living there. Not every citizen really benefits from the tourism, sometimes not even indirectly, but they do need to help carry the problems of traffic jams, improperly disposed waste, strangers walking through their backyards, zoning limitations because building a shed or a hedge would hurt tourism, town investments being primarily directed at tourism, instead of a small local football club that needs their grass leveled.

No, just yesterday. A flash sale appeared some time after Daz midday. It was even reported in the reporting thread as initially not working.

Also, re: your other post: you're welcome. ;)

Memberships don't expire at Daz midnight. They expire at UTC midnight (so some 6 hours earlier, if I recall correctly), so maybe that was the issue?

I personally don't mind buy-ins, as long as there a is enough variation or flexibility. 'New release over $1' is fine, but when it is tied to a narrow releases of specific days it becomes a problem for me.

I don't mind paying release price (that is significantly higher than even bad sales), PAs (and Daz) need to eat; but i would very much like to spend on something i actually want.

I hate it when i see an interesting item that was released recently but does not work to trigger the discounts i need to make a decently overall purchase.

Today is one of those. The discounts can get big, the item selection also big....but today trigger selection: nothing i would even bother adding to my just in case wish list. But i do see other items, equaly priced on previous days that i would had prefer to spend my money on.

the sale today is great !  Finally got 4 items off my WL, I only wish I had more cash to buy more. Had to use a new release buy-in, none that I like really, but with the buy-in my total is $35. Without it is $61.

I'm with you on "item I actually want" when it comes to new releases. Today, I got two items that's been on my wishlist for long months now, never discounted, and I used my Daz+ coupon for the extra discount, because none of the new releases interest me. If it was any new release, I'd either find something I like or pick some cheap item and would have built a much bigger cart, and I'd end up spending probably double of what I actually spent.

But I also recognize that for someone, who can build a $+100 cart without budget constraints, even if a buy-in is something they don't necessarily want, they'll get a good deal. For the rest of us, with smaller budgets, it's not as attractive. (I'm still happy with what I got today. Just... I would have gotten more if not the limited selection of buy-ins.)

Really happy with today's sale...used https://www.daz3d.com/tin-spring-is-coming--shoes-for-genesis-9-and-8-female as my buy-in, would have wishlisted it otherwise and got ten items off my wishlist $258 for $41, averaging out at $3.78 per item. Considering our awful exchange rate (closing in on .75) I did very well ($71 NZ)

The Alphabet 12-hour cycle is a bit whack. I took advantage of it and was all set to see what I could get on the second go 'round. but the prices are either borked or there's a hidden/unlisted restraint on buying more than once. So I guess I don't get to spend more money. Oh, well.

This is similar to my experience, even with the same buy-in item. Hopefully this sale kicks off a good weekend of sales. Even if it doesn't, I will be enjoying the items I got in this first round.

unless something changed since you checked, I bought earlier and now have a cart build and am getting a good discount. Not quite as high as I used my DO $10 off coupon last time. still average of 91% off with the buy-in and 8 tokens, so far. I think I'm going to see what else i can find.

There was an extra discount on the first five items initially that was not part of the promo, that was removed so now you should be getting the intended discount (70% without any extras, an extra 50% off witha featured new for a total of 85% off, or an extra 60% off with a featured new and a featued artist back-catalogue item for a total of 88% off - all capped at a minimum of $1.99)

...reminds me a bit of the old "Treadz" from the Gen 3/4 days.

Found a couple 88% items for G8 that I actually have use for and got 52 USD worth of content for 4.00 and a few pennies as well as used up all my remaining tokens (7) before they expire by the end of the month.

Will start next month with a "clean slate".
