    well nothing historical

pure fantasy, for those who like that

I have to admit I've been keeping my eye out for a good Rebecca Ferguson look-a-like ever since the Dune reboot, but I never expected Daz to do it themselves. I like the Viking theme and all three outfits look nice, so this will almost certainly be what my character bundle selection is for this month.

It’s pretty telling that, for a supposed “Viking Queen”, they had plenty of promotional images of her actually dressed in Viking themed armor and fantasy outfits, yet the one they chose as the main promo is the one where she looks like she’s wearing something straight out of an adult film set.

Sigrid loads without any textures on the mouth.  How does that get by QC?

Sigrid 9 has a reasonably interesting profile, but for a figure from this era, she looks too “modern” and urban. Carefully plucked eyebrows, for example, oh please... Of course, I don't know what a Viking woman looked like, but I imagine her to be a bit more rugged. Furthermore, Sigrid 9 is yet another one of the many, many white girls we are presented with every day.

Today, I picked out the Viking outfit, its textures and XI Dark Fantasy Wood, and chose Alex as my character. I really like him.

Whom does Alex resemble among the Core Figures?

Just loaded Sigrid 9 and got these two messages. Daz QC what did you miss?

That looks like something it tries to drag in has a bad path in a dsf file... What exacty I don't now ( I havent installed her yet, so I cannot see if its Sigrid 9 or something else loaded, but if you search for  ProductName9 in the dsf files you might find which dsf that is broken... ( in /data ) On Windows NotePad++ is good for such things, on macOS BBEdit

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 5,607

I don't have BBEdit on my MacMini but I looked at the files manually. Look at the line for /Runtime/Textures/Daz/Characters/Genesis9/ProductName9/ProductName9_ in the error message, all the other files in this folder are either DO characters, including Sigrid9 or are like Teeth or BasicFoundations.

The files are in the Sigrid9 folder.

Would this be the correct file path? And does this help Daz to fix this?

I don't get these error messages, just pure white teeth, gums and tongue (an error that I think is in the file "Sigrid9_AddOnMAT.duf").

Your screen shot shows a few different characters being loaded.  Is it Sigrid that is causing the errors?

Yes. See the lines above where I highlighted in red.

That's odd.  I cannot reproduce the issue you have.

The ProductName9 bit suggests that someone was using a template file where this should be edited to the character name.

Do you see the issue I mentioned above (pure white teeth, gums and tongue) with Sigrid 9?

Coming back to the topic, I like her. A mature looking attractive character who isn't a plastic bombshell or "a woman in her 30-40s" who actually looks like she's approaching 60 fast.

  • ArgleSWArgleSW Posts: 153

Rebecca Ferguson as a Viking? Should have modeled it using an actress that actually plays a Viking like Katheryn Winnick at least. Daz seems to often use real actors as reference and not be subtle about it.

Everett recently released was also heavily inspired by Pierce Brosnan.

The reason I wrote what I did, is that there might be something else calling for that, that is triggered by the load of Sigrid. I install and check ( as I run on macOS. Btw BBEdit is a lifesaver on macOS, used it since like version 2 the klast millenia.

Still love their old ad for BBEdit 4 "BBEdit 4 - Still doesn't suck!"

That was a comment on the general trend that when we get a "mature woman" supposedly in her 30-40s (according to the products' descriptions), she often instead looks like she's well in her 50s. Or barely 20. Nothing in between :D.

I'm glad I don't work in a job where  I have to card someone I've seen some mature women that look younger and some younger women that look older some a lot older some guys too genes and lifestyles guess I keep forgetting sometimes I'm old 53 but I've been told look younger though I feel really old. But yeah like I said when a mature fig comes out I try to grab them but yeah getting them at specific ages like you look at them and go yeah they could be 18-25, 30s, 40s, 50s and up would be cool but hard maybe if you took some celeb and did a fig based on each of those age groups especially if each generation they look different in body and face shape as well as lines stretch marks and such

I had it on my iMac and thought I had downloaded it on the MacMini. Need to download it now though.

Today is a crazy day, with maintenance coming over to check on a transmitter that hasn't transmitted once our water usage! Free water on our bill. But I made sure they knew and asked they fix it. So serious cleaning going on now my flatmate is up and moving.

Regardless of the issues loading the character they didn't impact my use. (I don't do nudes.) As a character from either Sweden, Norway or Denmark I was expecting someone tall, but even though her height wasn't noted on the promo, my Measure Metric showed her around 1.70m or 5' 6.96" which is average height. But maybe in the 10th century it would have been tall?

I do like her. I have no idea if she is a take-off of an actress as I don't watch TV or movies or RPG. I like her for her. She made me think of assured, mature women in business, the law, education, industry, the military, or politics who are comfortable in their knowledge and experience. And are not dependent on who they are with for their status or worth.

DIM did not have an update, but I went ahead and uninstalled Sigrid 9 and deleted her package. Then downloaded a fresh zip file for her. When it was done, I checked DIM's list of installed files and saw that the problem textures were now in the correct folder. Opening Daz Studio I loaded Sigrid 9 and no error notice was triggered. So if anyone downloaded earlier today and is getting error messages for her, I recommend doing what I did to see if that fixes it for you.

I will say this is the first time I have ran into this issue with a Daz Original character, since buying for them past ten years.

Totte, thank you for looking at this for me and others.
