[Why is their a MEGA SALE every day?] The discussion title asks the question.

Why not? It benefits everyone—shoppers enjoy holiday spending, and the store gains a healthy uptick that strengthens its year-end results.

You don't have to buy something if you don't need it.

To create FOMO. You have to look and sometimes buy otherwise you might be missing out. Marketing 101. Regards, Richard.

Yes, as Richard said ~~ or in other words, that's a sort of psychological warfare. Buy for there's a demand or buy for there's a discount ~ ~ devil

Because it's December. December is a long-month sale with new offers changing daily. Just like October is the member month, and September is a PA sale, and there's March Madness... In January, everyone's going to be back to "offer just not good enough."

There is a mega sale there on the site so they can sell their stuff. They're a business, after all.

if they keep changing the blurb they run that risk

I'm not impressed by most of the Mega Sales.

It makes the site interesting, even exciting. Plus it opens the real possibility of getting excellent bargains for stuff I'd love to have but could never justify if it cost more.

It may also deter a certain amount of piracy. It's the valve games plan. Yes, some people will pirate because they feel whatever they feel that makes them do that. Can't help it! But!If the prices are what people can or will actually pay, it's still more paid customers. At least, that's what I think.

And a lot more probably goes into it. The game aspect, love it or not, likely gets lots of people to come play and keep playing here.

I'm all in favor of it as well. I think it basically benefits everyone- the business as well as customers. An example of a win-win. They're also kinda fun... The most important thing is they're completely optional; nothing bad happens if one chooses not to participate.

Not everyone will be pleased all the time. In my airline career we used to tease people for complaining about the sunsets in Hawaii.

  • Please put your question in the post body and the title - Daz 3D Forums Wouldn't it have been quicker to copy/past the text from the title than to type out an instruction to read the title (which may not be visible to later visitors as the page scrolls higher)?

If people are complaining about sales that provide a base discount of 90% off (where you can also get an extra 40% off automatically thanks to punches and then stack tokens on top of that), then people will really complain about anything. Every mega sale has basically allowed people to get 96% off a reasonable selection of items. The only limiting factor is how much you are willing to spend

I was not aware that there was a sale. The last time I paid attention to a sale was because I read in a forum post about everything having a big sale price.

Conflict -- as a species, we are hard-wired for it. 'Twas so since our distant ancestor climbed down the trees. wink

I was exceptionally happy with the sales this season!  Stacking discounts is a game I can't resist playing (apparently, it is hereditary).  If only Daz sold discounted blocks of spare time so I can try out all the stuff! smiley  My wishlist actually got a significantly smaller!

  • Daz sales are like a furniture store.  They get you to look, browse, and find something more expesive to purchase on impulse.

Same here, @Greymom. I thought the 2 Daz Original codes on Christmas and the day after were quite generous. I chose a couple of core figures - Layla and Loki:

    https://www.daz3d.com/kayla-9

    https://www.daz3d.com/wagner-9

What did everybody else use the codes on?

Also, the Premier Member perks (freebies on the Nice List I think it was called) during the sale were even more generous. There were several DOs made by @Luthbel featured over the course of the month that I was particularly psyched to pick up, including Ad- Gladius and Wise Monk:

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-ad-gladius-defender-of-rome-hd-for-genesis-9

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-wise-monk-hd-for-genesis-9

And of course there was the calendar, too. All in all, I thought it was a fun and extremely generous holiday season sale!

THis is purely supposition on my part and shouldn't be construed as anything except a WAG, but with the crazy deals hitting so hard at the end of the year, I have a feeling that's more about squeezing as many pennies out of the end of 2025 as they can, no matter how insane the discounts have to be.  All I know is that between being Premium, having more tokens than I know what to do with, and the various coupons, I've been picking upsome massive cartloads (75-100 items) of newer products with average prices of around a buck each, so I'm not complaining.

Because advertising a sale as mediocre isn't an effective sales pitch, even if it's true?

I realize everyone's needs and expectations are different, and if you feel this last sale is mediocre, that's a valid point of view. For me it was anything but mediocre. I had a lot of fun with it, and I was able to finally get things I had waited months to purchase. Along the way there were all sorts of unexpected deals.

I'm not going to worry about "blah" sales months, because I have a ton of new stuff I'll use in my renders.

I have no idea when Daz/Tafi's fiscal year ends.  I suspect the pricing, the daily freebies and heavy discounts, and other aspects of this month's sale are driven by assumptions that many customers have more time for shopping, and maybe have some extra disposable income (gifted money or gift cards, Christmas bonuses, etc.).

Oh I was speaking just generally, as just about every sale is advertised as a Huge Golly Wow Whiz Bang Best Ever!

    Several issues with this.

    1. Wow. Stunned mullet. That's unkind.

    2. It feels like it's trying to shame people into being grateful for something they're finding isn't in their best interests. Also unkind.

    3. Your prediction relies on a false dichotomy. There are more than the two options you present (appreciate this now or be upset later). For example: shrugging and waiting for a sale that does work. Or being disappointed that it's another sale that doesn't work... and waiting for a sale that does work. Because there's always another sale, and a whole lot of us play the long game. That's what I do, no "stunned mullet" required, especially since anyone who's been here any length of time knows things cycle in and out of full price on a regular basis. There's no shock involved. And I can say with confidence that there hasn't been a single time I lamented the end of a sale that didn't work for me, even if the one that followed it also didn't work for me. Because neither sale worked for me. The "good old days" don't exist unless they were... y'know... good.

    4. You've made this prediction numerous times. I've yet to see one single post in the forums that proves you right. I mean, maybe there was one or two that I missed, but that falls far short of your predicted "you are all." So why do you keep making it?

Nah! I had a wonderful time at the holiday party, even on my limited budget. And I struck when the iron was hot. All good, very happy! Hope you enjoyed it, too.

@SilverGirl Yes, all that! Well said. But I don't think Wendy meant it the way it was received. Just sayin' and I don't recommend going off on a long tangent about this comment. I doubt it would end well. surprise

    +1 to this.

There's strong reasons why the BBC writes: 'Rage bait' named Oxford word of the year 2025. Makes you wonder what 2026 will have in store for us. indecision

    Cheers!
