DS4.24 program backup

I think I have the zips backed up, but I was wondering: Is there a way to back up my currently installed program? I have it on my K drive, as my C drive has no room. Can I put a copy in a folder with a different name, like "DAZStudio 4.24", instead of the current "DAZStudio4"?

    yes

  • Yes, I have something similar for 4.11, 4.12, 4.14, 4.15, 4.20 and 4.21. You MUST remember to do a temporary re-name on the most recently installed directory before starting or the installation file deletes the most recent previous installation. Otherwise having multiple versions seems to work well. The only problem file is the dForce kernel which rebuilds when you dForce in a different version. This useful behaviour is not guaranteed, but is pretty much implied by the beta version being able to work alongside the full release version. Regards, Richard.
  • Just remember that this is not supported. One potential issue, at least without using Instances, is that settings are shared across a given release channel (General Release vs Public Build) which creates the potential for conflicts.

it does carry settings over yes

    but usually not an issue

unlike PA default load scenes that sometimes impose their weird camera aspect locking odd background and render settings scenes on me

    that persist
