Daz Studio script update

My understanding was that in the last software update, there was a change to how scripts are handled. I'm currently at version 4.23.0.1. I'm hesitate to upgrade to 4.24 until I know that some of the script products that I use have been updated to the new upgrade. How can I find out if the product in question has been updated? I tried checking Daz Install Manager and the only product updates that are listed are the ones for Studio and the Genesis 9 Head & body morphs. I'm sure I'll eventually have to upgrade but I'm going to wait until I know the script products I use often are compatible. The ones I often use are the V3Digitime's filatoon script shade converter as well as some of the pose converters and Riversoft's converters.

Are you thinking of Daz Studio 2025?That is a  new version, not an update to DS 4, and yes  it breaks many scripts and all plug-ins due to the newer version of the Qt aplication framework.

  • I'm not sure as I am completely out of the loop. The only update that is in my Daz install manager app is to 4.24. I see nothing about Daz Studio 2025. Is DS 2025 a completely different app? Will the 4.2? versions be retired or no longer supported? I'm so confused.

  • Thanks. My main concern was if current scripts would continue to work in the 2025 version. I read somewhere that the new scripting engine caused issues with current scripts and they no longer worked. Can't remember what thread I saw that.

Well, technically, "continue" is an odd word since it inplies a supposed history and, since the Alpha is only a couple of months old, there isn't much history... That being said, there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, big version changes like this invariably break scripts as the underlying architecture changes but we adapt much like the move from 3delite to iray
Second, this is an Alpha so it is too early to find out whether vendors will update their scripts since they don't have a stable beta to work on
Third, some stuff does work; you should try testing the Alpha since it doesn't interfere with your current installation.  I currently do almost all of my Daz stuff in the Alpha right now.
And finally, the Daz 4.xxxx and Daz 6.xxx will coincide for a fair number of years so you can continue using your scripts in the older version and then do rendering and final posing in the newer version.

Yes, the new version is built on a new version of the Qt framework which means that all pl;ug-ins will fail and some scripts, depending on what they do and how, will also fail. However, this is not the DS 4 update you see in DIM - it is not DS 4 at all.

Have you ever used DS Beta (Public Build) version before ? If you ordered Beta version and checked Release Channel : Public Build in your DIM > Download Filters, you would see both of latest DS Beta (DS Plublic Build which is as same as the latest DS General Release 4.24.0.3 ) and DS Alpha (DS 6.x, aka DS 2025) versions in Ready to Download tab ~~

DS 4.2x won't "retire" until Daz notifies you of its "retirement". Before that, you always have support for it.

Do note, however, that a futue update for DS 4 will remove 3Delight - so if you do or might use that make sure you have a back up of the current installers as they will no longer be obtainable otherwise.
