Installed Content Uninstalled?

So I am going through and making sure that all of my products are in the right spot in my custom categories (no files have been moved) since I loaded 4.9 on my main PC. I am going through the categories in alphabetical order.  Interestingly enough I am coming across items that were installed months ago, before Daz Connect.  They are now showing as not installed and its prompting me to install through connect.  Everything except for a couple of encrypted freebies had already been installed via DIM before connect was available.  The content that shows uninstalled is no longer in my content and I am being forced to install it again.  Any idea why this is happening?  I prefer to use DIM and I really don't like the fact that stuff has gone missing and it now wants me to install via Connect. I don't use Smart Content and have no desire to do so.  And why is DIM not installing these or showing them when I pull up the DIM installer which is suppoed to pull up everything that is not yet installed? My only option seems to be to re install with Connect (which I would prefer not to do.) since DIM seems to think they are already there.  Even though they are not

Are the files there if you look in the Content Library pane under the appropriate ... Formats heading?

Ice Dragon Art: I've noticed that this is an issue for any product that does not have any front-facing content, ie. autofit products and so forth.

If I navigate to my Content Library and go to my product listing, products such as the A3 autofit will show up as uninstalled through DAZ Connect. However, it is indeed installed in DIM and definitely works as intended in DAZ 4.9 itself.

Not sure if it helps you though.

No they aren't there at all.  and mtl these sadly are items like clothing and poses.  Its not a huge deal yet I've only com across 4 or 5 so far and once I download them through connect they work just fine.  Its just....weird

I tried refreshing the meta data and that didn't do anything either.

If you search for the filename, does DS find it in the database?

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,876

Do you mean inside of DS?  No it doesn't find it inside DS.  Most of these already have a custom category (again no moving of files just using the categorize button inside of DS) so I know that they were loaded before.  I load all of my content almost as soon as I purchase it (always within 24 hours) so I know it was there. And those categories are empty or have the missing triangle in them.

Are they empty, or do they have the triangle symbol?  I'm trying to determine whether there is an entry in the database for the item or not.

Most of them are just gone.  Empty with no content whatsoever.  There were two that had partial files showing and the other half of those two had the triangle errors.  The rest of them just seem to be gone.  DIM seems convinced that they are installed however.  I am at the end of the C's and had to re install 6 items. (I have several thousand so its not really a very large number) which brings it up to about 10 items so far

And do they all show up under Content Libraary > Daz Studio Formats (or Poser Formats)?

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,876

Some of them yes, some of them no.  For instance Dragon Port shows in the product library but the dolphin does not. Neither show in the Product portion as installed though.

And they were installed with DIM while DS was closed?  On the DIM Installed tab does Dragon Port have a check mark for Smart Content?

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,876

Where do I find the DIM installed tab?  And yes all 33 pages of my content were installed with Dim while DS was closed.  Except for a couple of free encrypted items which were installed with Connect.

In DIM, the right-hand section shows Installed content, there's a column to the left of the Information symbol which has check marks for Smart Content.

Interestingly enough the dolphin has the check mark and Dragon Port does not. Yet Dragon Port shows and the Dolphin is MIA.  There is a fair amount of items there that are not checked but they don't seem to necessarily follow what is showing and what is missing.

Dragon Port does have metadata, so if it's missing a check mark it may be that there was a CMS problem when it was installed.  If you look in the DIM log for it, is there a message about a database failure?

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,876

No data base failure just a lot of invalid tag info.  A LOT of stuff on the list has that listed but most of what I saw seems to be installed correctly. But nothing that says Database failure.

So Dragon Port is showing up in Poser Formats, right?  Can you Re-Import Metadata for just the Dragon Port and see if it then shows as installed in DS?

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,876

That seems to have done the trick.  Odd that re importing the meta data didn't work before though, its the first thing I tried since I had read several threads on it..  Thank God dim is alphabetical....lol. I will give some more of these a try come tomorrow since its coming up on midnight (or 1am depending on when the time change actually kicks in lol)  Thank you very much for going through all this with me.  If this doesn't fix all of the issues I will post again but hopefully it will fix the issue.

Interestingly enough once i re imported the meta data for Dragon Port it showed up in my custom categories exactly where it should be without my having to put it back

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,876

Well, I was wrong, it didn't fix everything.  About a quarter of the missing content is now showing, the rest still wants to be re installed via connect.  Its not that big of a deal except for the time involved in re importing and re catagorizing I will just go ahead and get it done.
