That's weird. There was a page 6, but when I went there, no post on the page - just the "Leave a Comment" box.
Well now there's a post on page 6.
A ghost post?
Maybe something was there and it got deleted?
A post that infringed the TOS maybe? Then somebody called...
Postbusters!
Complaint: My roof's half skinned and it's gonna rain today. My neighbor in the other half of this house is the step-son of the landlord. He's also apparently the sole member of the maintenance department for this house. There has been a big commercial building material trash skid in the driveway for about three weeks now. The shingles on the roof have been periodically scraped off in preparation for new roofing. In my opinion, the roof repair is taking too long. This is not a good plan. No new roofing has been applied yet. The weather cooperates only so long. This morning I woke at 6:00AM to the sounds of scraping of the roof right above my bedroom. Yay, now it's my turn to wonder if the rain is going to be oozing down through the filthy attic and dripping onto my bed and best rugs in the bedroom during this afternoon's forecast rain.
I agree that re-roofing a house by one's self is a lot of work, but somebody needs to turn up the work enthusiasm a bit, or throw a little more money at it for a helper.
The problem is that there was nothing wrong with the roof before. Except that the insurance company apparently refused to renew the home insurance unless the 20 year old roofing was re-shingled. I'm so glad that I don't have a house or car to maintain anymore. Been there done that. Renting's the best for me at this point in my life.
I think if a computer was damaged by a power surge then it would stop working immediately. If it's still working then I would think it's fine. I've been known to get shocked by touching plastic. And everybody around me would think I was crazy for suddenly jumping, and then going on my way as if nothing happened.
I'm not sure - this system was fine after I built it until we had some nasty thunderstorms after a hot spell, after which it had a bad spell of system crashes. reinstalling Windows helped but it has relapsed periodically so I suspect there is some borderline damage. On the other hand it has largely worked for at least four years since then so it can't be regarded as catastrophic.
I just realized that when I went to the hospital last week, that doctor said that I had some fluid in my lungs, that it meant that I have some pneumonia. I haven't had time to relax enough to think about it. I decided that pneumonia isn't fun. I don't like my cough.
If practice makes perfect, why can't my coughing get perfect because I'm coughing a lot.
Noncomplaint: The Spectrum technician was just here and replaced the line to my house, bypassed my line amplifier, and replaced my modem. I boght a new router and got it set up. So, now I have internet back and am able to use my older backup computer.
Complaint: However, my main render computer doesn't power up and I will still need to replace it and the ups
I decided to watch some YouTube videos. I saw an ad for Daz3D.com and was trying to tell me to download Daz3D.com I don't know how to download Daz3D.com but I can download Daz install manager (DIM).
I don't know why I am watching this YouTube video of random videos that people have done at walmart. It is odd.
My Landlady asked me if I needed 3 monitors. I told her that I do graphic arts and she seems to accept that. She also assumed my tv was a monitor. I need to reset up my tv for some reason. she didn't want me to have the tv stand I was using. I need to decide where to put it.
...pneumonia is nothing to take lightly
Been there..
Came down with severe bronchitis one November years ago and still had to go to work as my co manager was on vacation. Over that week it developed into "walking pneumonia" and I literally felt (and looked) like the walking dead". Took a week off after she returned, got the meds I needed, and just rested at home. Fortunately it was caught before it progressed to the next stage (I was close to borderline), so fortunatly I didn't need to stay in the hospital (which wasn't covered by our company's health plan).
Definitely a "no fun" experience I never want to repeat (particularly at my age today).
I'd get another check-up if you begin to feel any worse.
I'm so sorry... hoping for better care for her the second time around. Situations where the hospital staff are inexcusably wrong are stressful and terrifying.
I want Cat 9 so someone can make this character.
Richard, I will hope for the best for your MIL and your family. Is there a neighbor or minister near her that can step up to be her advocate?
I hit a wild cat at the Gaviota Pass on my way to work. Damaged the front of my Toyota Corolla that I was driving at the time. Insurance covered it. Of the cat, not sure. Racing through six lanes of highway speed traffic packed like sardines is a death wish on its part.
Denver is getting almost daily thunderstorms in the afternoon, 2pm to 8pm approximately. It's the season. So I can work until about lunch and then shut off my computers. I have had a hard drive killed by extreme cold killing my electrical current on my side of the apartment. Every power surge by HVAC or laundry causes lights to flicker like mad. Also we get charge higher rates of for electricity after 1pm, higher more after 2pm until 8pm. So I have incentive to stay off my equipment.
I have this table thing that has a built in power strip. I can't use the power strip because it keeps tripping the breaker. Other than that it is a good table thing.
Complaint; someone filed my taxes for 2022 and 2023, but it was not me.

Complaint: Humidity. Yesterday was great. Low 80s(F) "low" humidity 49%. Warm but tolerable with fans, & no A/C. Today, not so much.
90% humidity, and it's already 78F at 9:15AM rising to high 80s by mid-afternoon. I'm already sticky. Blech!
I need to get to the local grocery store soon. Need salad greens & fresh fruit. Not looking forward to a soggy toddle.
Non-complaint: Neighbor has been working on the roof, a little, infrequently, still not done, but still, despite the evening rains, no leaks on my bed or rugs.
Non-complaint: Yay! Today is payday. I'm rich again for a few hours.
I was even able to put a litte back into savings and still have an adequate budget for this five-week pay cycle. Wheee, I'm almost balanced again.
Complaint: I'm trying to find clothes that fit properly and are socially acceptible for an upcoming wedding. Sears is gone, Penney's is gone, Walmart is, well..., Walmart
. But at least there's Amazon. I just hope they fit.
Complaint: Have to make an appointment at the local Stieman Cancer Center. My endocrinologist sent a message to my primary care physician. My primary question is, 'Why do they want you to see a hematologist?'
What excellent communication is going on between my Doctors.
So, I had to explain to my Primary Care Physician that my Blood platelets are at 97, which is not normal, but the range is supposed to be 150-400.
End Complaint
Maybe they added to your SS account for retirement.
You may want to check with the SSA about your number.
Non-complaint: Well, I'm not "rich" anymore. I'm hard of hearing so I use wireless headphones a lot during the day to understand TV speech. Ten years ago I bought a nice set of Sennheiser RS-170 wireless headphones. Over the years they've been nearly ideal. Light, comfortable, not particularly hot, high quality sound, and zero hiss and noise. The only problem (until recently) was that the nice comfortable earpads need replacement every couple of years. Not a problem, they are not too expensive (especially if you don't get the official ones). But recently (last two years), the UP volume button has been suffering from button fatigue.
I finally gave up on trying to use it anymore once I got it to a functional level. Instead, I've been adjusting the volume via the volume control on my TV amplifier(no remote). Yeah, it's a hassle because volume fluctuates up and down wildly between shows, especially on YouTube. So today after congratulating myself for putting money back into savings, I just happened be be browsing the Amazon catalog again and it suggested that I might want the newer model because they were on a 46% sale.
How does Amazon know? Do they read my thoughts?
Regardless, the old headphones still work fine, except for the UP volume button. And I still have one more set of unused ear cushions. I think the old headphones will go upstairs to the bedroom where I have shorter access to the amplifier's volume button. Yeah, the 46% sale price was the hook, but also since they are German made, the price might be going up soon due to tariffs. I've had the same thoughts about a 4K TV, but I can't justify a decent quality 4K TV yet, my current 1080P still has a lot of life in it, and despite the low end prices, I haven't yet persuaded myself that 4K isn't more than a fad. (That's what saved me from getting a 3D TV
)
TLDR: I raided my savings to get a new set of headphones: Sennheiser RS-175
A FEW MOMENTS LATER:
And just like that the 46% sale is over and it's now 29%.
Sorry folks, I got while the gettin' was good. Your mileage may vary.
Perhaps you could send your PCP a bill for consultation fee.
Sorry you're going through that. Think positive, and do what's necessary and possible.
I've had items on my Amazon wishlist for months and even years because I saw them at a sale price once and I'll wait until they have that price again. I used to do that with my DAZ wishlist.
Some items have been on the wishlist so long that a newer model came out by the time I was ready to buy. But those items are usually on the wishlist that long because it took me years to save enough money to feel comfortable buying them.
Yeah, I've had headphones on my Amazon wishlist for a couple years, and yes the new model came out several years ago. And it's been so long that perhaps the reason they're on sale is that the company might be getting ready for an even newer model.
Or maybe the 46% was a leftover from "PRIME Day"? The old model (RS-170), also bought on sale 10 years ago, was sometimes available at a tempting price but I didn't want to get an exact replacement because it would have had the same issue, short button life in a clumsy, error prone, arrangement. The new model (RS-175) is pretty much the same except they've apparently redesigned the button array, bigger buttons in a more ergonomically, logical arrangement. Hopefully, more resilient too. I'd like to believe they learned from their mistake. New headphones arrive on Monday.
Non-complaint: Weather turned out to be tolerable yesterday afternoon. Heavy rain took care of the the humidity, and the temperature came down to the low 80sF. Didn't toddle up to the grocery store yesterday. Perhaps today. Need salad greens, fresh fruit, milk, orange juice, cottage cheese, misc. Temperature today, not so hot, not so humid, no rain. Possible toddle weather. Yay!
I created a realistic image of my character Mili, but today I just realized that her eye color is wrong in the realituüic picture. Apparently it is too late to change the realistic picture.
non-complaint: It was 51 degrees at dawn today; little dude and I got out for a walk. No bugs, I wasn't a walking sweat sponge by the time we got back, and little dude was positively giddy to be out -- and not just out, but out and in his beloved polarfleece jacket. (Which is getting a bit snug... I need to dig out the one next-size-up that he'll be inheriting from his older sibling. Good thing he is entirely happy with pink and purple, because it's one of the two.) AND he got to play in the giant water station when we got home. So he's counting it a good day. And also I saw three trees starting to turn colors... a reminder that consistently better weather is coming.
complaint: Some local internet company or another has been doing some sort of upgrades for weeks, and it involved not only cutting down a whole lot of beautiful, mature trees, but also tearing up large chunks of the trail. For a while the tree corpses were on the trails; now there are giant piles of dirt and occasional gaping holes. Which means I have to push the wagon down the shoulder of a reasonably busy street instead of on the nice safe trail. I'm twitchy about that for all the reasons one might imagine. And I don't think we're even going to get lucky enough that they'll replace the whole trail, even though that stretch very badly needs it. (Add to the fun: this is disrupting little dude's sense of order, as we're supposed to be on the trail. Once I showed him one of the holes he did, thankfully, seem to understand there was a reason for it and I wasn't just being awful and stupid. Even if he's still not a fan.)
I am having a complete fun time watching DIM install products. It is more fun than watching oil paint dry on a big canvas.
Actually I am playing a game on my iPad while keeping an eye on DIM. Sometimes it times out or something else that causes a halt on everything.
Who is this guy? It sounds like he's narrating a Beatle's song.
