One of the great things about Outlet is that I often find some really good stuff I somehow missed and/or didn't look at closely enough before.  My biggest/best surprise this time around is Space Elsa's rather poorly named SE Collection of French Bags for Genesis 9 , which besides having several purses that open and close, but also a large selection of other purse content/hand props like a wide selection of makeup and mannicure items, a flip-phone that undfolds, and a generous selection of G9 poses for using all of those props, often at the same time.  The name made me skip past it before, but $1.99, I'm more than happy to do the texture rework to remove the overly repetitive uses of the Space-Elsa logo.  Another great buy that I've been putting off for a while but couldn't resist at $1.99 is The Command Deck Crew Poses for Genesis 8 and 9, a nicecollection of 46 general background/busy/working poses (no mirrors) for G8F, G8M, and G9.

Do the poses work well for other sets?

Better question is if they are "go to position" poses or "pose in place" poses.

For the command deck, one would have to zero them when installing if one doesn't want to install them in the position they appear on the original set.  Not a big deal, just hold down ctrl /.cmd while clicking the pose preset, unclick Translations X, Y, & Z in the box that comes up, and hit accept.

That shouldn't matter, you can override placement by holding down ctrl when you select the pose you want and deselecting the translation options.

It's frustrating isn't it?  There are a lot of useful features and shortcuts buried within DAZ Studio that the official documentation either buries or doesn't mention at all, so some of us only end up discovering them via the forums or someone's tutorials.  Heck, there isn't even an official list of DAZ Studio Keyboard shortcuts, though there is one at HotKeysWorld that was still accurate the last time I checked, though it probably went out the window with DS 6.  There used to be a great thead that was called something like DAZ tricks where users posted the ones they knew of, but that was ages ago, back in the days of Genesis 1 and 2, and I have no idea whatever happened to it.

It works in DS 6 on a quick test.

Sometimes you can find even better treasures in clearance sales than in new items.

It appeared in outlet store and quick grab today.

holding Ctrl brings up extra options on many actions

    loading shaders (can ignore maps)

Cameras (can keep existing creating a new camers)

selecting colours (gives different diagrams, Mac users apparently get crayons)

    likely many more

still bummed holding alt doesn't duplicate stuff translating like most other 3D software cheeky

or Caps allowing setting of pivot

For anyone new, that's for Quick Grab only (Outlet won't change until 8/1 if Daz keeps to their routine). Prices won't change on the page until Daz Midnight but should be correct in the cart.

I got https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-classic-barbarian-armor-hd-for-genesis-9 before the change. Now if I could find something like a wolfjaw headdress and a bearskin shoulder cape, I could possibly put together a suitable berserker to hold off the English at Stamford Bridge (or something). laugh BTW: 1.2Gb download! Why? IDK. Madness! Probably all giant .png textures.

It has a HD option for every piece of the armor, which is probably what does it. There are also handy sliders to turn the HD down if desired.

My Quick Grabs all evaporated, and there's still time on the clock! What the deuce?

    Very unhappy!

[edit=1] All right, Six discounted items in the cart, yoinked way before the established deadline. An error? A rule change? I would like to know from an official source...

    • What happened?
    • Are they going to do anything to compensate loyal customers who came to shop in good faith?
    • If not, how do they expect to maintain trust?
    • What are the rules now?

Temper is cooling down, but would still like some answers. [/edit]

It's them and the level 4 HD morphs.

After loading them, my advice is to reduce the viewport SubD levels on each piece of the outfit: for some reasons, many if not all of them are loaded with it set to 4, which will kill the viewport performance.

The details are nice though (see a render I did using the armor, Together, if you want).

Daz changed the time of the refresh a couple of weeks ago, possibly in order to solve outlet items not being refreshed on Monday: now, the refresh happens around 6h before the usual start of a Daz day.

Thank you. Where, if you please, did I miss the notification that would have warned me against this unpleasant surprise?

I was about to grab six products. Now with the new week's update, I'm not sure I want even one of them. Unpleasant.

    Notification?

There was a user post reminding folks of the change over earlier in this thread.

SilverGirl has been doing notifications weekly since May, when the change first happened. (Thank you for that! I usually remember, but I forgot yesterday and would have missed it.)

And for those who don't like Daz midnight +/- X format: Quick Grab now refreshes, consistently and reliably, at UTC midnight. You can put "UTC time" in your search engine, and see what the time difference is for your time zone.

As Elor said the textures and HD morphs take up around 600MB each. There are actually only 24 texture files, but they are all png.  The normal files are about 80MB each, which is a lot for a 4K texture map.

I like & need the reminders too! @SilverGirl (& others) also post reminders the last few days of the month about the Outlet Store changeover.

@Disciple Sorry yesterday's QG changeover blindsided you. I think most of us OS/QG fans/regulars felt the same way back when Daz first switched over to the Sunday changeover. And no, Daz didn't announce it back in May, even though plenty of us were posting every week, "It's Monday & the QG is empty." TIP: If it's any consolation, or help, a number of products seem to show up again in 1 or the other of the 2 selections. I swear some are Frequent Fliers. So WL the ones you wanted in case. Especially if any are DOs, which are likely to show up as Advent Calendar offers if Daz does that this December.

Yes, in the Parameters tab, open Actor then Mesh Resolution: the viewport SubD level is controlled by SubDivision Level.

You'll likely have, once you have set the viewport SubDivision Level to the value you want, to set back the Render SubD level to the intended value.

Mind blown. Thank you, seriously. I hadn't even looked in that sub-section (figuring if I didn't know what it did, I probably shouldn't touch it). This is going to solve a lot of issues.

Well, thank you for the information and cheers to @SilverGirl for doing what DAZ should have done. I can only back search so many threads for these important pearls, and I thought I was keeping up with new posts in Report Issues Here.

Then it's a chastising scowl at DAZ for neglecting such a responsibility. (Maybe an FYI: Unannounced Gotchas - Beware sticky is needed.) [edit=1] One little line on the banner would do it, "Prices good through date/date UTC:UTC." [/edit]

Now I have to wonder, will the Final 24 hours announcements on their headline sales suffer a similar surprise shift in their expiration clocks?

    Thanks to all who replied.

@Disciple - as @joanna referenced, this seems to have been their fix for the recurrent issue where QG/OS wouldn't refresh properly at Daz midnight. As other sales don't (with rare exceptions) have this issue, nor are they set up to be recurring things like QG/OS, I don't see why they would change things unless they change the entire store schedule... which seems like a lot of effort when what they're doing doesn't have an inherent problem (with that, anyway).

Last week it appeared at both the outlet and the quickgrab for $1.99, but now it's (or has it reverted to?) $0.99.
