Difficulty in using Daz assets in Blender

Hi all, So, my RTX 3090 has died and unfortunately I am not willing to buy a card with no warranty and my budget can only stretch to either an RTX 5070 12gb or a RX 9070. I do game quite a bit and Daz is kind of a side gig that I don't make much money from. My question is, how much of a pain is manipulating Daz assets in Blender? I'm wary of the Nvidia card due to the 12gb vram for 1440p gaming long term.

Moved to Blender Discussioin, which seems more apt.

Well there is a learning curve for Blender and Diffeomorphic. The possibilities are awesome though with Blender.

I have played about with Blender and found the UI difficult but that was for a few hours. I managed to migrate a full scene to Blender and render there without issue. Hopefully I'm smart enough to manage it ;)

I do 99% of my work in Blender and Unreal Engine. Working with DAZ assets is pretty painless. 12GB is plenty for 1440p. Before my 4090 I was using a 12GB LHR rtx3080. The only reason I upgraded was vram. Some of my files are massive. So come render time I run out of vram pretty quick. If i only had to worry about gaming I never would've upgraded.

This. Blender is not hard, it is different. But different for a reason.

If you just keep at it, it becomes the normal and then the other software seems clunky. The difference is that Blender is actually consistent, well designed, and significant thought went into how the GUI works. Learn the hotkeys and you will be rewarded with productivity.

I started out in Wings3D and later switched to Hexagon3D. I loved both apps but got Silo3D  when it was on sale about 10 years ago .And about the same time MOI3D.  About 6 years ago I decided to give Blender a try. I tried a few times but gave up on it and returned to Silo3D. A while later I as adamant I was going to learn Blender. And after a few weeks, I'm glad I stuck with it. Once you get over the learning, Blender is quite simple. I only use the modelling functions and a few sculpting tools (I have 3D Coat for sculpting) and do my texturing in 3D Coat, except for assigning photo textures in Blender and rendering in Vue.

Stick with Blender, it's powerful and has tons for tutorials on youtube.

As I said above. I love Blender. But only for modeling. For rendering and large scene management DAZ is a dog. Blender maybe better for large scene management and navigation, I dislike Cycles more than Iray. Now that Vue is free, I would suggest you use Vue for large scene management and rendering. IMHO Vue's rendering engine is vastly superior to anything DAZ or Blender offers.

I also believe it is better to stick with industry standard PBR materials instead of materials specitic to IRAY or Cycles. When I stick with industry standard PBRs it is easier to move my 3D assets between various software packages like Vue, Blender, 3D Coat, etc.
