    It was taking a while to load the page for me (the 'message about ShareCG' page popped up quick but then a while to wait after clicking to go to the requested page), but it got there.

    As I was checking out Rendo as a place to upload freebies, it turns out some of my sets might be too big (The old Kung Fu School was 4 zips at 150Mb-218Mb each, though granted that's a lot of props and maybe not the most optimised as it was my first commercial set). Rendo apparently limits 200Mb and 3 per day (which is fair enough). I wonder if they'll get swamped in the face of ShareCG closing...

     

    Edit: Turns out I'd forgotten that a few of my freebies were already on Rendo. I've just gone in and uploaded the Techno-Wizard Weapons there (to keep together with the free poses that were already there) and my Air-Vent System product - both 'pending' at the mo.

    Edit: Turns out I'd forgotten that a few of my freebies were already on Rendo. I've just gone in and uploaded the Techno-Wizard Weapons there (to keep together with the free poses that were already there) and my Air-Vent System product - both 'pending' at the mo.

    Smida routinely loads multi-part freebies at Rendo, each part is a separate freebie.. Will look for techno-wizard weapons. I see someoen knows the secret of easy energy fx! Excellent!

    Yeah, it's another older product (before VDBs) but it still works. The fx parts are adjustable for length and rotation (and the cross-bits are rigged to scale and rotate too). I'll make a post in the freebie forum when they're approved by Rendo.

    I don't know the rules because I never uploaded a freebie on Renderhub, but I got a couple of them weighting over 1 GB.

    Otherwise, like @Torquinox said, some people are sharing freebies weighting more than 200MB as multiples freebies on Renderosity: it can be a bit cumbersome as a Mac user (Finder doesn't merge folders by default) but it's manageable.

    ^Yeah, but I'd have to go to the bother of repackaging it. Currently, all the user-facing files are in one zip with some of the textures. The other zips are just the other texture files. Maybe when I get time.

    Renderosity or RenderHub shhould buy ShareCG.com and draw more traffic to their own sales site. It's not like it would add too much overhead costs to their current site. However, I have no ideal how much in the black their profits are.

    I'm trying to imagine how Renderosity or RenderHub could profit from owning ShareCG. I can't understand how. Could you elaborate? How, for example, could trafic be directed from ShareCG to whichever other site owns ShareCG?

    I downloaded from sharecg. VDB is great, though sprites still have a place. They're quick and flexible!

    Hey a small heads up for the 5 people or so who like/use my free content: I am in the process of listing essentially everything of mine made with modern tech at RenderHub (including a few items that did not make it onto ShareCG or Renderosity). I am going to allow the very old Poser V3/V4 era content I made to fade into history.

    I went to go see if I could save any of your V4 stuff but couldn't find it. I guess you already culled it?

    No, that content is listed under a different account, I am not actually going to delete anything from the site at least not right now, unless something changes that gives me a reason to do that.

    Depending on how many V4/M4 items Squishy / Fleshforge made.... maybe s/he could do like Sickleyield did, just place the whole lot into a zip file, perhaps with a readme saying there's no support of any kind because it's older than dirt.

    I've released freebies over the years and haven't had anyone ask for support for them. Do people do that to freebies? lol I'll put in a disclaimer that they were originally made for V4 and not by me, so that they can't expect support up or updates. There are a couple of your assets that are just fabulous that I would hate to see disappear forever.

    So, you no longer have those stored somewhere on your end anymore?   Say, in a backup CD somewhere?  Pity. I figured everyone kept all their creations stored away somewhere on their NAS or the like, or on old, retired hard driives in the closet, or something.  I've tried to do that with all my created stuff, but sometimes whoopsies happen.
