Crowds in Daz

How do you put a croud in a scene, without rendering from the CPU?

I am suprised no one has responded!  There are multiple ways that people handle this (exactly the way that they do in the movies):

    1. Low poly figures to pad the background and use depth of field to hide them (https://www.daz3d.com/lowpoly-crowd-creator-bundlehttps://www.daz3d.com/low-rez-crowdshttps://www.daz3d.com/lorez-figures-modern-males)
    2. Billboards (https://www.daz3d.com/now-crowd-billboards--modern-sitting-crowd)
    3. Background images (https://elements.envato.com/3d-crowd-of-people-sitting-with-alpha-channel-back-NZFWTE2 as an example)
    4. AI generated crowds
    5. And on and on

..here are few products:that could help.

Then there are several differently themed sets of Now Crowd "billboard" figure sets by RiverSoftArt

These are nice as they are usable with different camera angles..

I didn't respond because I have no idea what the question means.

    "without rendering from the CPU".

Does that mean ONLY using the video card? Cause that's a setting in the Render Settings tab.

Or does the OP mean - without being forced to drop back down to CPU because you don't have enough RAM to support/load/use multiple Daz figures?

Crowds are still an issue. I saw a recent product that is a city with corwds of people for far, overhead shots.

If one has a bit time available, it's also possible to set up your own "lo poly" figures by setting the Resolution Level (Parameter Tab) to "Basic", removing unnecessary texture maps (Surface Tab) and hiding body parts hidden under clothing (Scene Tab) manually.

Not everything needs to be done with bought products when one can spend just a bit of time and/or effort wink

CGTrader is where I got most of my lopoly pipo on sale (there's a sale now, but hurry). Thirty in one pack, 55 in another, and various groups of more or less. Humano offers the most photorealistic, but there are enough options available that you can build a stable. Along with Predatron's LoRez figures & RiverSoft Art's billboards, Powerage has some low poly pipo solutions for seated audiences and running (for disaster scenes) at Renderosity, although none of them can believably survive even a midrange shot without dof. The mall and station scenes use CGTrader figures, (minus the single G8.1F in the station). The ball match audience is Powerage.

    @maikdecker

Have you done this and do you have any end-result images you can share or point us to?

You can make your own billboards with Billboard Builder (https://www.daz3d.com/billboard-builder) in the DAZ3D store but it’s not currently on sale.  However, you can, with a bit more work, make billboards without a store product, although you’ll need a 2D photo editor and GIMP is free.  Jay Versluis has two YouTube videos about making your own billboards:

Yes and no. I did a "proof of concept" attempt to see how many figures I can squeeze into the 8 mb of my GTX1070 (12 lo-res G8F iirc). I do not need crowds for my renders usually. I won't do a render for this forum.

Really like all the complex crowd setups you've done.  And that may be the best embellishment of the Suburban Mall I have seen posted on here.
