This is definitely the worst forum ever based on search options

This Forum is definitely the worst forum I ever was a member of. The search option is pure hell. Just a statement. I do not find anything with this search option this forum has or I have to spend hours to browse to every single thread of this forum.

I agree, but the usual response to this question is to use Google to search these forums. So I won't suggest that. But I've given up holding my breath waiting for DAZ to do the obvious convenience fixes on the forum. I still use sunglasses when I come to this forum.
There is a search function? I haven't seen a search function in months now.
Yep, I use Googlre search a lot.
I replied to your post in Product sugedtions and supplied a thread link I found using Google
But you have to admit, the forum makes up for it by how positive and cheery the userbase is.
Yep the search is terrible. And they could care less. As others have said, google works at least.
If you want to be knowledgable, use google!
I do smell irony, but that is actually the case compared to most other forums I've been part of with maybe a hand full of exceptions.
3D got nothing on gaming. Or manga. Or any major news outlet over here, where they just resort to closing comment sections on articles regarding the refugee crisis because the hatred can no longer be moderated.
The DAZ forums are nothing but sunshine and rainbows in my opinion.
Oh, and yeah, from a technical point of view, they are pretty darn bad. Maybe not the worst, but a close competitor.
LOL, I'm not sure whether this was a serious statement or not, given some of the reactions in certain threads ;)
I honestly love the community here, and wouldn't dream of mentioning the few people who are constantly complaining about any and everything, always. That would be a personal attack.
If that was a slight on me, I was actually looking for the Search function as I needed it as recently as yesterday for a BSoD message I was writing.
If there was a Search function that I was missing, I wanted to know where it was.
Not at all, I think everyone agrees the forum search here is terrible.
If that was a slight on me, you're late!
But in my defense I'm not always complaining. Nor do I complain about any and everything. I'm very selective and consistent about the things I complain about.
The rest of the time I'm either silly, or sarcastic, or obtuse or pedantic or wordy or in some cases actually informative or introspective or philosophical and even some might say wise.
I do admit that I am not often complimentary.
And as far as forums go, this one is pretty tame.
Some of them expose the most rude, stupid, unreasoning and crude people this world can produce. The scary part is that many of those people vote.
To them I'll repeat what my mother used to say: "Be careful when you open your mouth, you expose your brains."
This is actually the only forum I can tolerate anymore. Just lost patience with the drama and bile elsewhere.
Ugh...now that's not something I want to think about...EVER!!! (seriously...most of those folks should never go around in anything other than full hazmat gear with darkened face shields...NEVER EXPOSED!)
the search feature is not useable. Impossible to search with a few words and have meaningful result. Too bad because the comments are great and very helpful.
Ironically, I just googled "worst forum search"... and the top entry, out of 90,700,000 listings, was this thread.
Fact is stranger than truth.
Google is always spidering this forum. I use Google all the time to search the DAZ3D forum. It's better than the built in search tool in the upper right corner.
Thank you for clairfying. I wasn't trying to start a flame war. I just wanted it out in the open if there was an issue.
I really have been looking for the search function as this forum is about the only reliable source for information on the software. So the lack of a search renders (pun intended) this treasure trove of information useless.
And I admit that my complaint posts usually out number my positive posts. I don't show up here to socialize. I am usually here because some issue has led me here.
there is an opportunity for Daz to improve the search capabilities of this forum and supposedly this was brought to the attention of Daz3d, but I don't know if it means it will be fixed or they can fix it. I don't think they own the software powering this forum or that they have the tools to do so if it's open source so it has been a long waiting game for many users here and I hope they are able to remedy this soon.
However resorting to a web search each time we look for a post because we lack the tools to do so here when they are not only integrated well with other forms but often offer flexibility not easy available in a search engine is a professional approach to a companies web presence and reflects on their professionalism and dedication.
@Cybersox,
I got it too!
Exactly.
I just realized what you were referring to. All this time I had not even been looking up there. I have always been overlooking that entry area as just part of the store search. (Self face palm)
For some reason I thought there was another search function lower down, near the top of the forum list.
I used to work doing QA for Xbox games (through an employment services companies, I did not work directly for Microsoft. To be clear)
It was a weird job, given most of my coworkers were 20 years younger than me. ... Yeah.
I remember the managers of the teams were working on more rigorous training and standards, and, in particular, working out some education on how to word feedback. I THINK I had some (minor) role helping that.
Anyway, I was commenting on how you can still say what you need to say, you just have to consider that other people are personally invested, not to make it an ATTACK. Just be careful with your language.
The young guy I was talking to rolled his eyes and sighed loudly, 'Yeah, they don't want us to be HONEST.'
At which point I stopped wasting my time, nodded, and finished my lunch.
:D
I'm not detecting any sarcasm at all. We were all very cheerful until not long ago.
Preach. I love useful critique, not only is it more polite but both sides are more likely to get something they want out of it. Spoonful of sugar and all that.
And I do like my forums like I like my militias, Well Regulated. It not like its too terribly biased either, I've had stuff culled for being too aggressively pro daz believe it or not. (sometimes my facetiousness gets a bit too strong I admit)
and yes, the forum search is terribad
Maybe they will repalce it with the RDNA forum software.
Any volunteers for breath holding?
Agree 100%
+1, OH!, and you are not being censored, lucky.
the old forum was fine, all worked fine, but they tried to fix something that was not broken, or what can you think when even the Log In on forums is still broken?, an infinite loop of "sign/unsign" since months!, there are very good forum engines around there(phpBB, Vbulletin, SMF, Invision, Ikonboard, etc) that can be inserted on the server but only god knows the reasons.
On the other side...Vanilla is a fairly high rated forum package. It is very flexible and has a host of options...which may be a drawback (as in there are too many configuration options...).
