So... I don't generally buy toons. I've often considered it an area that I ought to try my hand, because it might be fun.

I figure I'll give Guy 7 a chance. Then I see who made most of the clothes in the Pro Bundle and I say to myself: I wonder if its more expensive to buy just the things I want.

Turns out, it is more expensive to pick and choose from the bundle and buy only the things I want.

    Significantly so.

I can spend more money to not support an artist, or I can essentialy get everything I want, save twenty bucks and get all that artist's work for free.  I choose to look at it that way, even if its not reality. They are all Daz Originals, so the artist has already made their money.  But I want Daz to know that I considered it: not buying the Pro Bundle because 3 out of the 4 clothing items were made by an artist that I do not support.

I just want to say that the artist in question here reached out to me privately. We had a nice chat. That was unexpected, but really nice. I directed them to my reviews, which are the reason that I had decided not to purchase their products in the future.  The artist took my critiques very well. And I have one of their new products in my cart today to purchase.  I'd say that worked out well all around.

While I wasn't about to delve into the whole issue, I was really curious about that, so it's nice to see a resolution to it. Thanks for posting!

  • Again, I want to express my gratitude to Daz for releasing the male figure in tandem with their female one.  I hope this becomes a thing. Thank you!

Me too.  You still got pro bundle sales from me for both so there you go DAZ!

Has anyone else bought "Capsces Tooned Expressions for The Guy 7" too. I have only the "Tooned Guy7 ResetHead" icon in my library, no other expressions anywhere. I have installed them manually. Any hints? Thanks for help in advance.

It says they're dials. so they should be sliders on the character in posing with the rest of the expressions

While I haven't bought the Guy 7 Pro Bundle yet I did buy the Genesis 3 Male Face Morphs in anticipation of buying the Guy 7 with the $10 coupon I got for using that DAZ Studio Content Installer feature and still some products, like the above mentioned one, are making me do 2 installs. Once with the DAZ Install Manager and then when I open DAZ Studio, again in the Products tab of the Content Library pane.

The second one is Daz Connect, with is a new and separate thing put there so it'll be less confusing for you. You don't need both versions, you can pick either install method you like.

Thought it might be but installing with the DAZ Connect for some products does give me a nice alphabetical list that's easy to find and use for most, not all products.

Some products though after installing with the DAZ Install Manager do not have an install icon in the Products list with which to install with DAZ Connect. I wonder why? Maybe DAZ hasn't converted all it's products to DAZ Connect install format yet?

Hm that's interesting. Everything recent I've seen has been converted, but I think some older things like V4 and older are more specific about where they're installed so they can't be done in Connect? (I'm not 100% on this.)

But yeah, if you are installing with Connect you don't need to DIM download the same product as well (I mean you're free to do so but the Connect version gives you all the necessary things already.) Since the two physically install in different places I'm guessing that's why you can have two copies from it.

That's what I'm going to do...install twice to two different places. I stay with the current version of Poser too and eventually I imagine Poser being able to use DAZ Content directories directly eventually. As it is I have several copies of some products installed once for Poser, once for DAZ Studio 3, and once for DAZ Studio 4. I have merge the DAZ 3 and DAZ 4 though recently.

    Thanks very much.

Altho I didn't get the Guy I did grab Jax since I still had my PC coupon so here's a small render of Jax minus the guy, I did add a bit of M7 and Dash to him plus Gothic Mohawk hair and Unshaven for GM2.  Its not super large as on my laptop this took over 35 minutes, looking forward to seeing how quickly it renders on  my new machine when I get home from work. This is done in Iray also

Trying for a more dangerous look. Guy 7, G3M morphs, Jax body, Killian Textures with Guy 7 eyes, Asgard Cleric autofitted, Keegan Hair, sword from Leather Warrior, and liberal use of DaWateRat's Exalted Magical materials for Iray.

  • To be honest, I wasn't planning on getting Girl 7, I usually use the other iterations in small doses to give female characters a lite stylized look. I just bought both starter bundles and am really excited to give the males the same treatment. Great job DAZ!

Wow, didn't think we'd get him this quickly...

...his body looks decent, but his face...I dunno, he kinda looks like a palooka.   ;)

Too funny -- I was just saying  that to my hubby. I really wanted Guy to come out as a companion to Girl because she looks odd porportion wise next to regular lookig Micheal -- but seeing this new dude, not sure if I wanna  get him....

Wow that's a very nice image -- I will  say Silver's textures are gorgeous--and made me want to buy Guy     just to play with them on the figure...I hope they make more for G7 male

Thanks!  I didn't realize it would end up with that black background, makes it hard to see the hair, I thought it would save with the environment background..guess I will have to figure out what I missed.

Yes Silver's skins are fantastic! I had asked her if it was the same as the one used on Dash ( which I already have) she postedabove that it was actually a female skin that she had to manipulate to work as male which I am sure was not easy. I am glad I got it and will maybe get Guy7 down the road.

I ended up buying the Guy 7. I did the math and with all the things I wanted, including the new items that I got at 45% discount, it came out to almost the same.

So what is the little goat like critter that appears in some of the promo pics? I kind of like him.

Thanks for showing this. I like Jax a lot too. My favorite Guy figure. Although the nipples seem to distort a bit on male figure other than Guy, he looks pretty good otherwise.

The New Guy certainly looks a lot less like Girl 7. I recall older versions of guy looking more like The Shonney Big Boy Figure.

Another very, very impressive pict. You've built some incredible characters with The Girl and The Guy, I am totally envious. Thanks for showing what can be done (my initial picts weren't what I was after and I was going to drop back to some older characters, but you've convinced me to spend a little more time with them).

    Hi Scorpio,

"The Girl 7" expressions were my first set of dial expressions. As I was learning to make dial expressions, I made the presets first. Since I had them, I included them in the product. There are also a couple of presets that use the tongue, which did not transition well from inside the mouth to outside the mouth, and are not part of the corresponding dial expressions. Since there were no issues with the tongue when I made "The Guy 7" expressions, I decided including both dials and presets would be redundant, since they both do the same things. DAZ required the reset pose. Hope this helps clear things up.
