omg COMPLAIIIIINT got an email from fidelity investments about changes to my account

whiskey tango foxtrot  i have nuthing to do with fidelity.

learned my employer, yesterday, auto enrolled me in retirement savings, deducting 6 % of my paycheque with auto-yearly-increases.

    SERIOUSLY!  is that legal?

had to call an 877 number and jammed on the 0 to talk to a person. to reverse that mother foxtrot ship.

i couldnt' even reply to the email with a 'what is this ship', was one of those noreply emails.

had to sign like a hundred documents when i transistioned, cuz they lost the first ones faxed to them.  no where does it say there is any auto-enrollment, or an option to say do not enroll me.

i'm already down half a paycheq from being out sick.

Trust is broken now. seriously broken. that's dirty ethics. where theres dirt, there's gobbs of mud underneathe.

Well, things went both well and annoyingly, so here's a Snakey Medical Report! indecision

    - The old cast came off and the stub inside has healed amazingly well.  The doc, his assistant, 2 nurses and the cast-making guy all said it looked amazing for 3 weeks after surgery.  No serious swelling, no discoloration, no  twisting, bending, bleding, oozing, or rotting at all.. looked pretty darn good for a stub, if I say so myself!

    - New cast ON.  If the foot is fine, why?  Well, the doc moved a pile of tendons around to force the foot stub into a position where it's near impossible for the remaining skin to get an ulceration - this apparently is kind of a new-ish technique and has a massive success rate at preventing new visits to the foot doc and/or E.R.!  HOWEVER, the tendons take longer to anchor and make themselves happy in their new positions, so the doc wanted the foot protected for another 3 weeks.. and the only real good way is to use a cast.. so.. The Cast, Part Deux. frown   It wasn't toally unexpected, but not for this reason.  Still, doc knows best, so.. doc gets wha doc wants.  BUT - THIS CAST IS BRIGHT ORANGE!!!  Since I already did purple, and they were out of light blue (ugh), I went with a color so bright you can see it from space!! devil I love it, it's so obnoxious!!!!  I almost got pink, just for fun.. not kidding! devil  Still can't walk on it, though...  sad

    - When I go in next, the cast comes off and they start using an Ace bandage wrap.I will get sent to this special place that will measure me for a custom-fit prosthetic foot extender that will effectively replace the toes AND support my ankle (which will start taking more weight since there's nowhere to send it off to now).  Still no walking on it, the doc wants me off the damn thing until the fake foot is on me.  Short walks to the bathroom at this point OK, but no lakeside hikes or long walks out bar-hopping (and I miss beer tasting walks, waah).  I will almost certainly want a cane, he doc said not necessary but useful the first year or so.  I almost have mine picked out!

So, while I didn't get my best-case scenario, I am in fine shape foot-wise and things proceed carefully so I don't end up back in surgery (DO NOT WANT).  Likely 5 more weeks on the scooter, which is a ginormous impact on my normal go-anywhere lifestyle but it's *le sigh* necessary.  5 more weeks of delivered beer/snacks, taxis everywhere, and terrorizing co-workers as I blast down the halls at Warp 5.

Thank heavens for my fancy lap desk, which makes being creative in bed possible.  Best investment in months. smiley

Funny story: I was in the docs office with 4 other folks, 3 ladies and one surly looking dude in a cast.  The dude was in a wheelchair, but the 3 ladies (older women) had scooters! All different makes, so we spend about 45 minutes discussing the pros and cons of the various models.. you'd tink we were a bunch of dudes talking about our cars!  One was seriously p1mped up: basket, front and rear brakes, fancy faux-sheepskin covered seat, and yes a small electronic horn.. SO JEALOUS!! devil OMG I'm getting old, discussing our mobility scooters!!  HElP MEEEEEEEE!!! crying Of course, that lady had 4 surgeries and a hip replacement so she'd been on that scooer over a year. indecision

It all sounds really postive and who would have thought scooters have such an upside? :)

LOL, yeah, iven the amount of work done on me appaently things are doing quite well!  The doc is just real conservative and I appreciate him for it, I'm running out of favorite colors for casts!!

From what I hear, 8 years ago the scooters were close to $700US.. and a walker is just $20 after insueance! But apparently walkers have a high incidence of accident, since it relies on your upper body strength to move you around in many cases.. not good for older folk.  Now insurance is beginning to cover knee scooters, you see more every day, and far fewer falls.  I worked out with a walker and it's painful.. nearly fell even with the physical therapist there.. never a fall once they scooter-ized me!

Except ffor turning around, which is a process on the scooter, I can get around almost as well as I did when both feet worked.  It could be far worse!!!

Friday, first day of three-day weekend.  Cleaned up my room, took out trah/recyclables, picked up a bit, and cooked some breakfast rather than stuffing down a meal bar.  A decent start.

Currently sipping a nice can of Barton Springs Pale Ale (6.5% ABV), and nibbling on black bean chips and garlic hummus!!  It's pretty toasty outside so I'm indoors under the ceiling fan, piddling around on the computer.  Absolutely zero stress, ahhhhh, I can finally feel my shoulder muscles start to uncramp.

A shoulder/back massage would be nice, have to find a handicapped-friendly place.  I've become painfully aware of the issues of just having one foot gone, I can only imagine the ginormous pain in the caudal peduncle that it must be to be in a wheelchair.. no wonder they passed laws to make placess acceable! Bad enough my fave beer joint isn't handicapped-friendly, damn them!  Will take my business elsewhere for now.

Have to force myself to not eat the whole container of hummus.. my body says "GIMME", there must be something in it I need.  Weird.

Well, time for a lie-down, stretch out the left leg, and listen to some ambient music.. catch you all later!!

    No, light-year = (distance/time) * time = distance

light-meter would be (distance/time) * distance = distance^2/time, which doesn't have any useful application AFAIK.

Alright!  I had to dig my car out of the snow this morning to go to an early morning doctor's appointment.  Which one of you-all pissed off the weather gods? angry

Also, I have a legitimate complaint about my mouse.  He's gone psycho.  I click once, he clicks twice or thrice.  Sometimes he just starts clicking and foaming at the mouth.  I turned him over and watched his little red light and it would spontaneously brighten and dim randomly.  He's a tailed mouse so it's not a battery problem.  I think it's time to put him out of his misery. sad

WRONG!  A light-meter is very useful for professional photographers or for people with very old or dumb cameras. cheeky

Well, they could be.  But you had to have two and connect them by a tight string.

1 Lightyear is approximately 9 trillion kilometres. That's nice and easy!

(Or for comedy value - 1 LY is 63241 AU, or 0.3 Parsecs, give or take a couple of million kilometers....)

Actually the problem has applications in radio frequency management so let's say you got a microwave transmitter @ 1 cm its frequency will be (in metres)  3x10^8/0.01 , about 10^10 Hz my math might be rusty there haz been a while but if you gotta broadcast stuff iz a real issue

Better stay away from the strong stuff for a while I still got caffeine shakes from a coupla days ago, been running on empty I guess :) It all sounds positive for you right now and I guess adaptation will be your friend, is 'sposed to be a natural force so hopefully you won't have to sweat it too much. Was looking around at the huge variety of mobility aids people use in the city here it sure has changed the past few years, motorised stuff has been miniaturised I guess but there are still a few swish looking canes in use, think I'd like one of those remington single-shot canes from back in the day :)

This is the fine print.  You really should read the fine print, but we know you probably won't.  So you will be totally surprised when we come for your first-born son and one arm and one leg later on this year.  You also agree that you will not use this payment as an excuse to take time off for recuperation.  Should you be childless, we will accept another leg in liew of the first-born son, but only if it is whole and fully functional at that time.  Otherwise, you will make arrangements to have a first-born son, so that we may collect your debt.  You should also expect that anything we do will be covered by this fine print.  You may not like it, but we will, esepcially our accountants.  This is binding as a contract, and you agree not to take any legal recourse against us concerning anything covered in this, or anything that we shall add to this in the future, at our leisure.  In the U.S. some states do not allow such blanket statements.  In such a case, the parts that are not against the laws in said state will remain in effect, and the rest we shall append in more specific terms, which will be binding.  You also agree to this.  If you decide not to agree to be bound by this contract, all earnings paid to you up until, and including, that point in time will be returned to us, with interest.  You also agree to this.  Fine print is fun!  For us.   This contract may be amended and/or altered at any time, at our choosing.  You hereby agree that you will also agree to any new terms.
