Diffeomorphic - Super slow import speed

DrGonzo62DrGonzo62 Posts: 367
December 2024 in Blender Discussion

Hi,
Whenever I import a DAZ figure with a lot of morphs into Blender, it takes like 5 - 10 minutes to import.
All the while, my Ryzen 9 hovers at around 3% usage, 30% memory and no disk activity.

Why does it take so long, when my rig doesn't seem to be doing much during import?
Shouldn't the CPU be at full usage during that time, cruching away at the import?
Just wondering.

Diffeo is more like an approximation, or a translation than a typical import. Morphs are turned into shapekeys and those suckers get expensive. The more you have the longer it takes. I have a 3950x 64GB, a 4090, and I still try to limit things.

Because it is a python script, so it is only using one thread of the cpu. Also all morphs need to be transferred to clothes and facial meshes, which takes a while too. Especially G9 figures are expensive, while G8 is much faster. Be sure to update to the latest version as optimizations have been done.

    Thanks for the explanations!
I should be used to waiting forever for a figure to load from when I have all of my asset libraries plugged into DAZ.
Oh well, it is what it is.
