  • Do you have a VCA ($50,000 nVidia toy) or an account with a render farm using VCAs? if not then I don't think it would be useful - it doesn't let you network render on multiple local PCs, as far as I know. If you can make use of it I believe it's a programme run by nVidia itself for which you need to sign up, but I don't know any details.

  • Well, I'll look into it more then I guess..

I do have Iray Server 2015, I found out .. from my maya iray beta program.. if that's the one, then maybe i can get it going.. I actually havent used it yet, cause back burner seems to work fine..

If I could get all the daz files out 100% as they are in daz, I prolly would try back burner via 3dsmax or maya, but alas.. I'm always getting wierd things happening when exported and loaded.

  • Arghhh!!!

So I dunno, I can setup the Iray Server just fine and connect with daz 4.9 ..

But.. the problem is it's only streaming.. and not sure what that means, and I cant use it anyways .. as it requires a quadro card..

sigh.. is it worth picking up a quadro? and I dont mean a new one, I mean.. what would you guys consider to be the lowest one that is of any real use and proformance? 4k, 5k? etc..

Right now I'm running on a gtx970 and gtx470 system.

  • Ohh and I ran across something called Farm It for Daz.. for 10$US, is for 3delight only I'm assuming, anyone use it?

WHat iray server did you use? I am trying to use NVdia iray server, but having hard time connecting Daz4.9 to it. Where did you find farm-it app?

I had a feeling this was coming - export the data to a remote site and let THEM handle it. indecision

I'm using the last beta that nVidia provided, but its a commercially available product now with a 90 days free trial.

Have not tried it recently, what problem are you having connecting?

The "streaming only" is a DAZ limitation. I access the same server from Cinema and get the full "queueing and networking" abilities that way.

I have an account on an Nvidia VCA, as I used to be an Nvidia employee. I have used the VCA (the Iray Cloud Beta in DAZ render settings) and I LOVE IT! I have had 128 GPUs all working together to path trace an image and it's a pretty awesome experience. Sometime in the future you'll be able to do that on one GPU.

Anyway, I can't get DAZ Studio 4.9 to render on the VCA. I connect to the VCA manager. I select "NVIDIA Iray 2015.3 (Version 246000.20154 Bridge 246000.2384)". I copy and paste the server link it gives me: wss://8.36.1xx.2xx:443/bridge. Turns out I have to change it to just 8.36.1xx.2xx:443. Then I click connect. It succeeds in connecting and correctly tells me how many VCA nodes I'm using. But then when I click the "Rendering" check box and click "Render" it fails. The log file says that the server refused the connection.

Any ideas? Someone said they think it's that DAZ is not giving it the Cluster Access Token, which is displayed on the cluster manager web page after I make a reservation. How can I give that token to the app so that it can give it to the server? I don't see a way in the GUI. Do I set an environment variable?

I'd love some help on this because VCA rendering is AMAZING!

    Thanks.

I doubt many other people have access to a VCA so you may need to open a Technical Support ticket to report this as a possible bug.

Well you said you were a former employer. Your account has probably been closed by now. You can call them directly and ask though.
