Nice @Big_Al! That outfit looks really great on him! I like the whole Tomb Raider vibe. :)
It's Raining Men Again!
I thought I would let all of you know that it is official. There will be an It's Raining Men Again Contest. I just posted a thread in the Commons to see if we can get some additional prizes from vendors and anyone else who would like to add to the prizes we currently have. I'll be putting up the official entry thread the day the contest starts in a couple of days. So, get your thinking caps on, but don't start yet! :)
I have two offerings today, one I really like and hope doesn't violate the TOS and one I have a question about. I've been wanting to find a truck I could retexture like Optimus Prime (new version), but I cannot figure out how to get the flames to POP over his blue body texture. Can anyone give me a tip or two on that?
Otherwise, Officer Dan says, "Happy Halloween!"
Thankyou madam. But, sigh... I just found the matching pistols :( Oh well.
Now, I think, I'll go have an afternoon nap, to envisage my contest entry.
@zombietaggerung I love the Halloween image! He can arrest me anytime! As for the flames. no clue.
@Big_Al Yeah, I have that problem finding stuff, too. Usually after I need it. Enjoy your nap. It's bedtime here and I'm headed that way myself.
@Knittingmommy LOL! Thank you
@Big_Al If that's the free tomb raider outfit, I had trouble finding where the pistols were hidden too, so don't feel bad. I like your image however, those shorts sure are nice on him.
One trick I use from time to time is to make something emissive to help bring out the details. For example, in this image of Ivan Relaxing at Home, The triptych photos behind Ivan use a small amount of emissive. Without it, the bottom of the photo looked solid black, the water not showing up behind the branches. If you make all of the texture black except for the flames, then play with the luminance values, you might be able to bring out the colors in the flame...
Excuse me whilst I fall of my chair, laughing.
Yep, it is the freebie, but I didn't realise/notice the guns were a separate "purchase". I found them today
As for the shorts, they're dynamicarised to get a better fit.
Great news and great timing - I've a weeks holiday in a weeks time. Time to play and have some fun
Though with the quality of the renders in this thread it will be hard work for the judges.
Did this one while testing the new rig.
Oooooooo! That's a good idea! I will have to try that and see how it works. Thank you. :)
What expression set, or the expression part of the base model, is used on the Halloween Cop?
As far as using emissive surfaces on the pictures, they look really good as were used here, I thought they were windows.
I didn't use any particular expression set on Officer Dan, I usually don't use premade expressions. He's just a dial spun g2m, with the expression and face pose sliders adjusted till I thought his smile looked "right".
OK, that's what I've been doing but most times it turns out not so good as that expression.

Thank you I'm glad it looks good to other's eyes. I find that in adjusting expressions, sometimes it helps if it's just slightly over the top, since subtle expressions on these figures tend to look sort of blank and dead eyed.
Officer Dan is great! I love his outfit and his leather bikini. Nicely done. :-)
Redux
@evilded777 Very emotional pieces and very well done! I like them both, but I think my favorite is the bottom one. I love the lighting and the shader you used on the sheet. That being said, I do like the lighting in the first one and all of the tears. The water looks really good.
@evilded777 - What Knittingmommy said.
If "raining men" doesn't happen soon, I'll have run out of ideas.
Thanks @Knittingmommy and @Big_al
@Big_Al I saw those legs in the gallery this morning and almost immediately thought it had to be you! Then I hovered my mouse over and saw your name. :)
Everyone can breath a sigh of relief if their brains are getting taxed and you think you might be running out of ideas already. ;) Personally, I don't think that will happen. You guys are all just too creative to dry up now. The contest starts tomorrow and I'll be posting the entry thread at midnight DAZ time or there about. Just remember images have to be new and not posted anywhere before the contest start date. I'm still waiting for feedback to see if it matters if they are posted to the gallery first and then linked or if they need to be posted to the entry thread first. I hope to have that answered by the time I post the entry thread tonight. If anyone has questions regarding the rules once posted and you need clarification, just ask and I'll do my best to answer them.
Alright everyone! The It's Raining Men contest is now live over in the Art Studio! I want to see some really great images! And, lots of them!
Yes mum.
:)
This is a bad guy character I'm working on. I've nicknamed him the Unicorn for... The facial forehead piercings. I was going for a sort of modern-day viking look.
Unicorn looks awesome
Unicorn looks properly bad! You know unicorns are suppose to be the essence of innocence. A bad guy with a moniker like that should have a really good back story. I can't wait to hear about that in your thread! :)
The surprise is where his horn is.
Lol. Glad you like him! Unicorn has several horn/gold spike forehead implants. In fact, from certain angles those things poke through his hair. I couldn't hide them very well either, so I settled for just raising his hair enough they mostly don't show. I'm not sure how innocent he is though. Hah.
I decided recently I needed to create some villains, as I do spend a lot of time illustrating the characters I like and good villains can be interesting characters.
