Thanks you KM. You are using far more lights than I have loaded at the moment (a Standard Spot and a Point) which probably explains why I am not getting the sharp delineation of light you have. I don't have Render Studio but I do have Ultra Genesis Studio Vol 1, and some freebies I've collected. I agree with you about always learning Lighting, I like to think I am getting there with the basic stuff, but dramatic lighting needs more thought. smiley I'll get back to playing this afternoon and see what I can do.

Good luck.  As for the rim lights I borrowed from Render Studio, those would probably be the easiest to kind of wing it with a primitive set up as an emitted surface.  I would start with with the light settings I posted for them and fiddle with the light settings.  You may have to actually go with a less intense luminance setting and wattage than what I have listed.  I don't know for sure as I'm still trying to figure that out.  Since the rim lights are wrapped in a type of casing, it does seem to make a difference in how the light works, but, at this point, I don't know how much or what the effect is.  I'm trying to come up with my own casing for a mesh light just to see how much of a difference it actually makes.  I'll be posting those experiments over on my Laboratory thread when I'm finished with them.  I have a few different things in the works for the thread that all came about because of my harmonica player!  Wait until you hear the trouble I had to go through just to get a free harmonica working in DS!

I was sort of expecting him to be dirty ala A Touch of Dirt For Iray...

Anyway, for quick and dirty, it's a very appealing image.

He looks very nice.  I'm looking at him, though, and wondering what he is looking at that gives him that expression!  He looks ready to seduce!

To me it looks as though he is eyeing up the scenery.

I know!  I'm not sure I've ever seen her use the same one twice, either!  I follow Chohole around saving all of the smileys she leaves behind so I can add to my collection!  I have a directory devoted to Chohole Smileys called 'ChoholeSmileys'.

I could of course give you a list of all the free smiley sites I have in my bookmarks.  They are not my smileys,  they are just smileys I have found around the internet. I have several smiley sites and a whole folder full of lolcats.

A list of places to get free smileys would be nice!  I've found some places, but I haven't found any of the places that have some of your more unique smileys, yet!  And, yes, I know they probably weren't your smileys exactly, but ones you've collected.  However, I still have a folder devoted to the ones you've used!  I think I'll keep it.  cheeky

It has been a rather odd year, thus far.  Next part of my folly is to move 600km in a norwesterly direction - if you look at a map of Australia and, from anywhere, head 600km in a norwesterly direction, you can end up in some odd places.  So, in the middle of packing boxes, rescuing failed hard drives and trying to explain to my dogs that they're going to live in the country, amidst snakes and various bouncing marsupials, I've squeezed in my last render for a while.

I might add, I used a single mesh light used and all effects were done in Octane, no post processing.

See you in a month or two laugh

Nice image, Butch!  Safe travels and may all your boxes make it safely with you!  I went through a move with my dogs.  They saw lizards in the wild for the first time and went crazy trying to catch them all.  They finally settled down when they figured out the lizards were faster than they were!

Nice renders there...Love the procession on that last one, chanteur. :)

Yeah, Dmitri tends to get that look often when I'm rendering him.  Not sure if he's trying to seduce something off-screen or at that point of poking my brain to tell me to stop. :)

    Thank you, though!

This is an old one I did in Poser with M4. I live right near the Sunset Strip and everyone looked like this back in the Guns N'Roses/Poison/Warrant days LOL. I see some flaws in it now, but I still like it, I did it just for fun really quickly. My photo in BG.

This is Daevid, based on M7 using the Dae for Lee 7 textures. Slosh's UHT hair shader presets really revived this hair—the "Buttercup" colour looking surprisingly natural. Garment created by me using Blender cloth simulation and textured with one of MEC4D's fabric shader presets.

Finally, moved into the new place.  Next few weeks will be spent reorganising, then deciding it's not right, reorganising again and again and again.  Most importantly, nothing left to do at the old house, so no more 500km (6hr) each way drives, for a while.

Now for my image entitled "Butch's Back".

  • Kev914Kev914 Posts: 1,126

I'm glad you're back, Butch! You look to be in good form.

6 hr drive each way? Nothing I'd want to do.
