Unreal Engine 5.4 released last week, but the old plugin doesn't work. Unreal will not open if you try to use it!

Please update!

The current 5.4 release is a preview, not a full release. David has immediately updated the plugin on hit GitHub repo, if you "must have" that functionality now, download the latest version of the bridge here: https://github.com/David-Vodhanel/DazToUnreal/releases

I'm sure that as soon as the full release of 5.4 is released, the team will update the version in Install Manager.

  • Plugin 'DazToUnreal' failed to load because module 'DazToUnreal' could not be loaded.  There may be an operating system error or the module may not be properly set up.

    what is the problem?
  • Unreal Engine 5.4 has officially released, but I am unable to select Unreal Engine 5.4 in DazToUnreal, why hasn't this been updated, because the version is fully released now.

  • I see that, but is that on Daz's end though?

I downloaded DazToUnreal.2023.1.2-UE54-win64-project-plugin.zip, extracted it, and placed the DazToUnreal folder into \UE_5.4\Engine\Plugins but I'm getting this error when I launch a project.

"Plugin 'DazToUnreal' failed to load because module 'DazToUnreal' could not be loaded.  There may be an operating system error or the module may not be properly set up."

  • @Superlativecg Here,... https:// github.com/David-Vodhanel/DazToUnreal/releases click on "DaztoUnreal" download and extract it, choose 5.4 or 5.3 (whichever engine you use), take that and drag n drop it into your Engine plugins folder, and be sure to put it in the "Marketplace" folder

    Thank you majestic!  That worked!

  • I'm also struggling to get things working in UE5.4. I've got the plugin correctly installed in UE as it seems. I've updated the dll from https://github.com/daz3d/DazToUnreal/releases/tag/2023.1.2-UE5.3-hotfix-1 into my DAZ folder, but when loading DAZ I have still no option to select UE5.4 as export version. Anyone knows how to fix this?

I'm having the same issue, I can't select version 5.4 . I think we just gotta wait a week or two for the updates to go live in the daz downloader,
I shouldn't have deleted my project leveling down to 5.3 (which failed). We just gotta be patient.

You might have to just create one if you've never added a Marketplace plugin to this version of Unreal yet.

Since there is still no 5.4 option, I have to resort to re-installing UE5.3, imported into UE5.3 and then migrate the asset to my UE5.4 project.

I've had success with the latest version on David Vodhanel's GitHub with 5.4.

@Gordig I still don't see an updated dzunrealbridge.dll which is what we need to get the 5.4 option in the drop down menu in DAZ Studio.

It's in the Resources folder, but you can also just copy the entire folder into your DS and Unreal plugins locations.

Thanks Gordig!  I totally forgot about that.  I was looking on this page because the installation instructions neglect to mention that other location where I can find it.
