Grey smudges/squares in Material Preview mode in Blender.

As shown in the image below.  I'm probably being a dumbo or something. I don't often use Material Preview i nBlender.  I'm usually Solid or Rendered.  Anyway, what mistake have I made here?  This is a diffeo imported G8.

    Never experienced something like that. If you're using BSDF materials with eevee then the volume skin is not supported and renders as transparent cubes, but not like that. Unless you have a driver problem.

     Transparent cubes... that's pretty much what it looks like (I have up to date drivers, RTX 4080).  OK, so it's the BSDF shaders.  Got it.
