Yep! That's why I find Daz Studio so appealing. You can put together a decent looking scene in a short amount of time. And then have it look even better yet with a little more time. You can't beat this workflow.
First, Will, you actually have a luxury budget? Dont's tell my husband that there is such a thing or my spending might get cut.
Okay, so I kind of dropped in to say that I'm thankful to DAZ because I can mock up the scenes in my head and actually get to see what I'm writing about. It has added so much depth to my writing. I love being able to create a scene, add all of the elements that I thought were needed and then see where I might need to go back and add something else or how something I wasn't expecting affects my plot points. There is nothing like actually seeing something that was only in your head come to life. And DAZ makes that easy to do.
I love that there are so many freebies out there, both from DAZ and on other sites, that I can use within the program. My creativity has exploded and I'm enjoying myself immensely. I love meeting all of the people on the forums. I get a lot of good free advice here, too. I know that if I have a problem, there is usually someone on the forums that has a fix for it. DAZ makes that possible.
Customer service has been outstanding. Not a lot of companies have such great people answering the complaint tickets. I love their return policy. None of the other 3D brokers have a return policy as good as DAZ's.
I love the vendors here, too. Any time I've had a problem with a product, the vendor has been available to solve issues with their products. I love that some vendors actually troll the forums and are willing to talk to us. I, too, was lucky enough to benefit from DAZ's mistake with Zev0s product and he was such a sweetie about it. He didn't have to go ahead and let that mistake continue. The vendors here are very friendly and I love that I can also see their work in the galleries, too. I appreciate those galleries, as well, because it gives me a place to show off what I've done and also get some feedback from other users. I've even had a couple of vendors write on my image pages that used their work to let me know they liked what I did. I love that DAZ makes that possible.
I can, also, appreciate some of the long render times, too, because it gives me the opportunity to go do other things while my computer is working. Like, um, laundry and dishes. Ok, so maybe, not that so much, but longer render times do actually give me a chance to go do other things required to make my life easier.
Knitting: Yeah, well, I don't bowl or golf, so I figure it works out. ;)
I also came looking for the next version of Bryce and found DAZ Studio instead. Downloaded DS 1.8 here, grabbed the freebie, and the rest as they say is history. Thanks DAZ! And thanks to the community that surrounds and supports it too!
This month is the10 year aniversary of my finding Daz so my list is pretty long. I had already tried Poser and it just did not do it for me but when I stumbled across Daz and Studio I was hooked. So I am thankful for the program, the updates over the years (especialy Iray), all the free stuff I have gotten to use in it, and a career working with really good people that I respect.
You know what they say, "The first needle is free, kid."
That's why the base software is free, right? Get us hooked on the software and then sell the content. Works for me.
I often ask myself why I treat DAZ3D with more invested emotion than other online stores like Amazon or even Renderosity. A big part is the community here which I really appreciate. But its also the leadership and major moves that DAZ has gone thru since I joined. I remember when the "free" software began and how controversial it was to those of us who had previously paid for the advanced or pro versions. I also feel the same sadness and anger as that child of divorced parents Mr. Poser Sr. and Mama DAZ3D. But me and my wallet continue to return here almost daily to check for new products and read the forum. So Thank you DAZ.
Like so many others here, I am extremely thankful to Daz because I would have never been able to get into the endless fun of 3 D without this free program. The content pricing is reasonable, and I can purchase it in increments that work for me.
I love slipping in every morning to see if anything wonderful has popped up in the store!
I don't have the luxury of the time to hang out in the Forums- but my hat is off to all of you who answer questions and post tutorials- the gift of your time and knowledge is greatly appreciated!
I am grateful to DAZ for the introduction to 3d to the talented PA's here and mostly to the forums where I've met so many wonderful people from all over ......
and then there is the fact that my DAZ addiction replaced my smoking addiction so it's all good!!
Being able to create keeps me sane (at least moderately so) ever since I was declared disabled...
This month is likewise my 10th year anniversary of finding DAZ (didn't learn about Poser til a couple days later), and almost my 9th year anniversary as a PA here.
I'm thankful of having a career where I can work in my PJs with my husband next to me.. I work hard and I work way more hours than most people do, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
DAZ and I have been together for 4 years now.
It has its ups and downs.
We fight sometimes.
I guess most couples do.
But we continue on because we are better together than alone.
This is not a fairy tale. :)
As far as as what I'm thankful for?
That is easy, it is this community.
Oh, do not get me wrong ... you are collectively, for the most part, slightly off kilter if not completely broken free.
But I have not been a member of more generous and passionate lot that I, again for the most part, love to spend my time and passion with. :)
I would not be doing this with out the DAZ community.
They pushed me down the hill 4 years ago and yelled, "now fly!"

No slightly about it, I'm definitely off kilter most days.
I've always wanted to make my own comic-book, but I cannot draw very well. So it was an unfulfilled dream until I found DAZ. Now I can make pretty (enough) art, and I am able to make my own comicbook about my very own superheroine. In fact I am just wrapping up the first issue, putting out 1 page a week in Webcomic format.
OK, it's not a printed comic, but it's pretty damn satisfying, and it would not have been possible without DAZ.
Yea ,at one point it did increase my smoking ........then I switched to a vapor stick lowered my nicotine gradually ,and tadaaa ,now no cigs ,every so often I still smoke the vapor stick,but with no nic,so it just satifies the hand to mouth craving ........oh and the inhale exhale thingy ....
