Diffeomorphic - visibility drivers not working?

DissendiorDissendior Posts: 128
January 2024 edited January 2024 in Blender Discussion

I've followed all the steps descrribed here: https://diffeomorphic.blogspot.com/p/visibility-section-version-15.html

  • I've created the masks for three clothing items (sweater, jeans, sneakers) my character wears (step "Create Masks")
  • I see the mask modifiers on my characters mesh and I've asigned the corresponding vertices to the vertex groups. The assigned vertices are hidden then.
  • Then I used "Add visibility drivers" on the meshes for the sweater, jeans and sneakers. As described the meshes are added to collections and have this purple marker.
  • I also have the checkboxes under "Visibility" unter the "Daz runtime" panel. But when I uncheck one of them, let's say the jeans, the jeans is actually hidden but the vertices of the body which belong to the corresponding vertex group are still not visible.

With this tutorial I was already confused how Blender should now that when I hide the mesh of the jeans that the vertex group should be hidden by the mask modifier and I thought there might happen some magic behind the "Add visibility drivers" step but at least for me it did not work. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm using Blender 4 and Diffeomorphis 1.7.3

    blender 4.0.2, diffeomorphic 1.7.3.1996

Seems to work fine here, the mask vertices are hidden when the clothing is visible and unhidden when the clothing is not visible. Unless there's specific content triggering the issue.

    my steps:

    1. easy import G8F with the base tank top, you will get the rigs merged
    2. select the tank top, create mask, assign the vertices
    3. select the rig, add visibility driver

Thank you for your response... I might have done something wrong on my way... I've checked it again with Import and Easy Import and now it worked
