Diffeo - Rigify or MHX and "Merge Rigs"

January 2024 in Blender Discussion

It seems if I convert the character to either Rigify or MHX in Blender using Diffeo, then I can no longer add new clothing or things to it...i.e., I can use the 'merge rigs' as I normally would, and it completes and looks OK, until you I try to pose it -- then I messes up the posing badly.  I've tried 'keeping original Daz rig' option too, but didnt seem to make a difference.  Is this just the way it is, or does anyone know a way I can merge new rigs (i.e. clothings, etc) to an already Rigify'd or MHX'd Daz character in Blender?

Thanks!!

The idea behind diffeomorphic is to create the character in daz studio then bake and export to blender, including outfits and accessories. If you have multiple outfits then you get multiple figures in blender. That is, diffeomorphic is not designed to replace daz studio or turn blender into a clone of daz studio, but to import baked daz figures better suitable for blender.

That said, there are tools to allow importing multiple outfits on a base figure, but this is not recommended as it doesn't fit blender and slows down things a lot. Also this is limited to the daz rig, you can't do it with mhx or rigify.

Thanks for the reply.. that said, I've had no issues at all merging in new sets of clothing into a Daz figure that has already been brought over to Blender via Diffeo.  i.e., no need for me to have multiple figures in Blender just because I change the outfit on them.  That said, makes sense this wouldn't work for Rigify'd or MHX'd characters but thanks for confirming.
