I agree, Arabella's breasts are great, and a good starting point for dial spinning. My wife once confessed that when she was driving here for our first date, she was worried that her breasts weren't big enough for my tastes; when she got here and saw my expression, her fears were allayed. Ironically, Breast Control for G3F was released today; it's sitting in my cart with Arabella.
It does seem that descriptive terms have had their meanings change over the years. To me, voluptuous brings to mind a figure like Wonder Woman's, not Bethany's. Curvy could be applied to any woman who isn't built like a 12 year old boy; curves don't have to be big, there just needs to be a noticeable change from breasts to waist to hips. There's a lot of room for variance.
The dress loads without any rips or tears in it - those are optional. :) It can be used as a 'proper' bridal dress.
Have a look through the promotional images! They show both states.
she doesn't look much like a teen to me. I would say she looks older. :)
I waited almost two days for Arabella. :-) I knew I wanted her, but it was the accessories I debated over. Which bundle. As to seeing what we want to see, this morning I also saw the faces of two English ladies in Arabella, along with one Irish beauty.
I think it's her aristocratic, slightly not perfect features and the different texture maps. That's why I'm really looking forward to seeing someone push the limits with an Arabella character. Wish Surreality was still making ladies, but maybe Fred Winkler's team will go to town with her, like they did with Livia and the Vampire.
Agreed, but as I said, it is always hard to be sure. And we tend to think of teens as being fresh-faced individuals; sadly, there are many places in the world where folks grow up a hell of a lot quicker, and that leaves a mark.
Might be my favourite, it's close between this and another; one character I don't like at all, is Victoria 7; not keen on TJ7 either, think it's the eyes there. But yeh, I'm looking forward to some new characters using her morphs; I'll likely make a few of my own too.
Sure is fun to make your own things for characters. :-)
Indeed it is.
I was wondering if Arabella was going to be this Gen's version of Lilith (because I would've preferred a Lilith 7). But I do love the style of clothing that is included in the Pro Bundle.
I hope not. I like Lilith too much myself. I like both figures, but would rather see them seperate characters.
Someone said "no" to the "Arabella is the G3 Lilith" idea. :-) I like Lilith, also, but either option would've suited me. I'm easy to please.
If/when there is a G3 Lilith, I'm looking forward to seeing her clothes! I hope they're something like Arabella's, although the original Lilith's aren't very.
Well, if the make up and style make her look like a "goth" like lilith, the shape and face (skinny style) are closer to ninive.
Now that you mention it, I see the similarity. :-)
I finally got to check them out :) the red one doesn't have a no torn option but it still looks good, I love the dress though
Has anyone who bought the IG Iray essentials for Arabella try out the optional textures and change makeup? Did you have to hit the ctrl and ignore option?
Actually, the no-torn option would be to drop the transmap in the surfaces tab, or make a secondary transmap from the first one that doesn't have the holes in.
Deadly Nightshade I like, actually. It makes for a really nice outfit of the reasonable (not uber-sexualized) variety with one small change--
Ditch the spike heeled boots and swap them out for the ones from Karen's Eclipse outfit. They fit together out of the box with no fighting, even with the socks. If you crank up the transparency on the socks, and exchange the default texture with the the dark ones from the expansion pack, you'd think the boots came with the outfit. It comes off really cute, as seen in the attachment, assuming I can get it to take...
Lots of fun things :)
That looks really nice. You know, with all the kit-bashing to come up with outfits of the "reasonable (not uber-sexualized) variety" you'd think some of the PAs would come out with products with at least some variations. Like the Ghost Bride has both intact and ragged versions. As much as people complain about the high-heeled boots, wouldn't it be nice to have an outfit come with two boot options, high-heeled and low-heeled? I've seen a couple of outfits I'd buy if they came with low-heeled boots, anywhere from a "flat" half-inch heel to 1.5" heel on the low end.
I have to admit, watching this thread has made a big difference in how I feel about the figure. For now, though, she'll have to remain in the Wishlist...
Thank you :)
There's a reason I pick up some of the things I do... There was a very short disagreement with the wife over picking up Karen's pro bundle, which ended when I showed her those boots. Such a rare thing I didn't dare do otherwise. Same for the Hobby Outfit, and the Rogue Sci-Fi suit, both of which are in the full-sized image. Most of the stuff in that image is stuff I've laid hands on in the last few days.
Like I said, I picked up the pro bundle because I had a vision of some things I could do with it... Arabella herself was no more than an afterthought-style bonus. I don't tend to use the shapes in those bundles these days... Having way more fun putting G3F through my modeler with the occasional morph from a resource kit. Toss in a skin or six, and life's pretty good.
The character you're seeing in the slice is called Joy (short for Joyce), and she's a personal favorite. Should I ever get around to trying the whole shoe-making thing, I'll remember to model it flat and dense up the mesh for spiky heel morphs.
If you like the clothing/hair otherwise, I might recommend getting the pack while it's cheap though. $60 is a pile better than $95...
True. But I seldom buy the Pro bundles anymore. I'm more likely to pick up just the figure, or the starter bundle if it will save me money on things I would otherwise buy separately. Especially when my budget is thin after the drubbing it got from the PA Festival.
I did that math, and the characters/figure/poses came out to $1.32. So I went for the pro bundle. The only G3F I got in not pro was Bethany, and even then I wish I'd had a bit more cash handy.
+1
I rarely buy something with heels, and since G3 appeared, never; if they were included in the pro pack, then the clothing items have no influence on that; I buy based on characters and the hair options.
But there are two packs recently I might have bought with flat heels. I'm not a big buyer of clothes, as I prefer the dynamic options, the new material and texture packs have made them much more versatile.
I don't regret changing to the Pro pack; I initially just bought the two additional figures.
That image I cut out my earlier example from is up in the gallery for the interested...

Have a look at Esha's Patchwork shoe sets (not yet a G3F version, though).
Autofit's getting better about shoes of late, y'know...
What hair did you use in this render?
Yes! I have three of the six styles. Very versatile.
I've tried using auto-fit with the Patchwork shoes on G3F... no go.
Tulip Hair :) http://www.daz3d.com/tulip-hair-for-genesis-3-female-s
Well, I finally caved and bought Arabella a while back, just the figure, when it was 50% off with purchase of a new release. I don't have all the G3F figures and characters, but I do have a few, so I tried Arabella "wearing" the skin/eye mats for the others, and I think her face looks rather stunning "wearing" Adaline.
On the other hand, I don't think the other ladies look particularly good "wearing" Arabella. Her eyebrows are too high on her face. I actually went into Photoshop and modified all of her face maps with the eyebrows lowered 72 pixels. (Ended up with a nice no-eyebrows set as well.)
After setting up the intial scene and lighting, the only changes I made were to either which skins/eyes Arabella was wearing, or which figures were wearing Arabella's skin/eyes. I suspect the other skins would have benefited from adjusting the lighting.
And here is Arabella with modified face maps. (I modified all the maps, though I doubt I'll use the fantasy makeups.)
I really like Beatrix and Selena!
Do you mean you like those figures? Or are you saying you like Arabella with those skin materials? (Just clarifying for my own information...)
I think all of them look good on Arabella, and with the right lighting have the potential of looking great.
After initially having my doubts, I picked up Arabella while she was on sale. I really like the body (everything up to the head is nice unique shapes from the other G3Fs, texture maps are great) but I'm not a fan of her head at all. It feels really plain in shape apart from the overly distinct cleft in the nose, which you can't dial in/out via a morph. I don't like being forced to use really distinct features from a base character. Fortunately, Vyria exists (just be aware of Vyria's default SubD detail if she's murdering your Iray renders as she was mine.)
I'd love to hear from Daz what the purpose / concept is behind their G3 base figures. I thought I understood G2 pretty well as a series of bases for PAs to launch other similar figures in that area from, but G3 feels very 'well basically it's a slight adjustment on Victoria' for the most part.
