Only if you hadn't seen the comments which were split.  AFAICR they used to not carry over even then.

Nope.  We had to subscibe to the new thread.  That was no surprise to me.  I am glad that a link to the new one was included.  That made it easier.

...ahh, but even so, posting a comment in the new one still automatically subscribed you again.

None of this "when you click upon a star..." nonesense (and an almost invisible one at that.at least they could give it a more defined outline or something so you can see it).

Regular, but it transforms into a flying one when I stomp to the balcony and hiss at it. Then it is time to do a big leap to a rowan (not featured) to the left, and chatter loudly in annoyance.

A friend of mine in the Denver area had the right idea about what to do with squirrels.  He shot them and fed them to his falcons.

When I lived in Florida at a relatives home for a while there were a lot of squirrels that raided the bird feeder.  To spare the bird feeder, the relative would buy bags of peanuts and told me to scatter them on the lawn to feed the squirrels.  After a year of this the lawn was full of peanut shells and we had a couple dozen squirrels that came for regular meals.  I started feeding them by hand and even recognized a few of them and gave them names.  Eventually a couple of the smarter ones figured out that the bag of peanuts came from the door in the house.  One day when the door was left ajar they went inside to see if they could bypass the stingy human forcing them to do tricks.  It was an exciting half hour with five paniced women and one amused male trying to chase two squirrels out of the house.

Although after that the relative stopped buying peanuts.  I wonder why?

But as I reflect on that period of time I realize that what I was really doing was feeding the eagle and hawks that circled above waiting for fat juicy squirrels.

So true.  We feed the birds but hate the fact that feral pigeons would come down as well when we put food out.  Then one day we watched a Sparrow Hawk take on a pigeon and win, although she wasn't able to take the pigeon away as it was too fat and heavy,  she had a good meal from it before abandoning it for the visiting feral cat to finish off.

complaint: U.S. Postal Service is slow.  I ordered some books to read but they haven't arrived yet.  The website tracking said that the mail person delivered my books last Friday.

Don't worry, the mail person will deliver them once he read them all.

So, the kitten with the button on the chest... what happens if you press it?

I don't want to make you paranoid and hope that they're just in USPS limbo and will safely arrive... but you might want to contact where you purchased them from and/or USPS and ask.

In recent years, UPS/FedEx/OnTrac. have take to delivering my packages to somebody else's apartment (they ignore the actual delivery instructions too, so I can't have it left at the apartment office either).  I had to stop mail-ordering entirely and go back to brick-and-mortar stores, except for things that ship only via USPS that fit into our package mailboxes, or Amazon locker (which doesn't get free shipping anymore, even on free shipping stuff.)  The very last package, the instant it was marked as delivered, I found was indeed delivered elsewhere, and I saw my name and grabbed it off their porch before it could be stolen.

I don't know if USPS does it, but at least one of the other shippers will have their driver come out and check with you to verify they got the right address.  (well, supposedly they do.  I never saw them, which I took as confirmation they were indeed not going to my address.)  Insurance covered one misdelivered/stolen package.

Was that Question to me?   From what I gather from my son, she is a fierce little creature, having been the runt of the litter and having to fight for everything with her brothers and sisters, so I think you would press the button and hazard the 4 paws full of sharp claws.  She bit the vet when she went for her first injection. Drew blood as well.

...if you take the Lump Cash payment you actually only get half the advertised jackpot value, so in this case it was a total of 68$ million.  Take out about 33 - 45% for combined state and federal taxes (depending on what state you live in) and at the high end, 16$ million is about right.  Here in Oregon (38%) each share would have been 21$ million.

You only get the full jackpot (before taxes) if you take the 26 year annuity plan. The "risk" here acording to the "experts" is should tax codes change and the rates go up so will your tax liability. However, to invest "smartly" means you also have to hire and pay one (or more) of them to make the "right choices".

Basically for myself, I would go for the annuity as the annual payout after taxes would be far more than I could ever spend in a year given the time I have left (which is why I should be due soon as it's usually old codgers like me who often win).

Crikey even a 1.2$ million Megabucks prize would give me almost twice (after taxes) what my net earnings were at my previous job and for the next 25 years.

I used to feed them.  I have what they call a squirrel munch box.  I used to fill it with shelled peanuts and watch them eat.  They lift the lid with their head and reach in and grab a few peanuts.  Sometimes they stay and eat, sometimes they run off, maybe to store the peanuts somewhere, maybe to eat somewhere else, or share with the young ones back at the nest.  Chipmunks would go up there and get right insite it.  They'd come out with their cheeks all puffed up with peanuts.  laugh  I have even seen Blue Jays lift the lid with their heads and munch on a few peanuts.  That was funny, too.  Who knew they could lift that.

But I've been out of work so long, I can't afford the peanuts anymore.  And the place I used to get them, and the bird seed, went ouf of business, too.

...I hear you on the being out of work part. Just went in for hip and hand xrays today for my SSI claim. Should know in a month or three what the outcome will be.

May be to little too late though as I still have not been able to find a place to live and have to be out of the one I'm at in a few weeks. Furthermore where I live what low income/section 8 housing is available is either on a 5+ year wait list or closed.  The median rent here in Portland is, get this, 1,580$!  For that to be 33% of one's monthly income it would require earning about 55,000 - 60,000$ a year. The average "real" average wage in the metro area (taking away high level executives, CEOs, and top end tech professionals) is more like between 10.50$ to  12.00$ an hour. Rents here have gone up more than twice as fast as wages, and are increasing at a rate that is twice the national average.

Haven't heard back about that second interview yet either.

...and worse all those candidates for 2016 keep trying to beg me for money I don't have crying that they don't have enough (I actually wrote one of them back, can't say who though)

Not in a very happy mood right now.

Hey *waves* First day of Spring here and a warmish sunny day, I mean it aint the equinox yet but there are a few blossoms out and our daffodils are starting to look a bit old :) Spent the past couple of days vacuuming all the winter dust out of my studio, turned all the machines on this morning and only one didn't work *WIN* Looks like the one not working needs a good going over with a soft brush and some canned air. Anyhow, back to complaining: the forums broke up with my iPad, dust bunnies haz eaten my machine, the hard drive box connected to my file server seems noisier than it used to be, the end fell off a Rocstor portable, our Pear tree is full of Possums. Could be worse, Pear Tree full of Eels would be much worse :)
