Version 10 comes as both 32 and 64, so probably.
just check - its a LIC file ( thats the serial number )
If you have version 9 or later you can actually upgrade on the shade3d site for a low price ($99 for standard). I got version 10 for free a few years ago, and I'm qualified for an upgrade it seems (checked my serial number).
Can you explain this, what you mean? Only have a .docx wich contains an explanation and a link to the shade site.Where you manually need to enter a serial/registration number... which is missing as far i can tell. Also no mention in the word document in regard to a license file.
EDIT: yeey serial number was just added on the "my serial numbers" page
Thank you for the info. YAY!
PS. I'm really only needing it for modeling so all those extras in the more expensive versions are really of no use to me or are they?? Will Basic give me what I need?
There is a comparison table here:
http://shade3d.jp/en/products/shade15/table.html
Yea, I've already looked that over but wanted some feedback from modelers that use Shade and if they can do what they need to do in the Basic version VS the Standard or Pro versions!
I've just had a reply from Customer Support and my Serial Number is now in the list.
If you can't use what you create in Shade in DS what is the use of it!? As a side note Smith Micro are offering Silo at 37% off, wonder if they saw what Daz had done!?
I think I'll stick with Blender IF I can find a tutorial that is!
CHEERS!
EDIT: Mmm, Silo looks good, and there's a Linux version.....
Downloaded a trial version in the hope that external rigged models could go through shade and then fbx(daz compatible) to daz studio but no luck so far.
Shade does have 3d printing preparation tools though
I am only using the basic version - you would need standard or pro to use FBX in DS .
keep trying. i've just checked there yet again, and my serial number is finally showing (after raising a support ticket)
Silo is good. It's fast too and very focused on modeling so the UI is very clean.
You can use what you create in Shade in DS you just need to pick the version you need. I don't care about rigging, just props and morphs so basic is fine for me.
Same with my needs. Just a solid, up to date modeler. The tool set is very large but yea, if your into animation, weight map painting, rendering and rigging and all the rest then go with Standard or Pro
Now if the weight mapping options includes what DAZ Studio uses and they are more advanced and less clunky then I might have to upgrade at some point... the weight mapping tools in DS are abysmal and clunky. Hate them!
I agree they are a pain to deal with.
Yup..... doing back flips to get weight mapping done in DS just gets to be too frustrating!
Are there any good tutorials for beginers anywhere? I seen some video ones, but they don't really explain what they are doing or are too fast.
yeah i saw the fast forward speed demon demo myself. lol
...yep already commented about that on the Hex forums.
Bugger I'd even pay a bit for an updated debugged 64 bit Hexagon (in spite of the fact I put out a fair amount of finances for it when I first got into this over 7 years ago). 200$ for Shade basic and 450$ for Pro, too rich for my budget. Besides, I just need a good stable 64 bit polygon/vertex modeller with good UV mapping tools and none of the other stuff like rendering, texturing, animation, etc. I already have Daz, Bryce, and Carrara for that.
Also, I don't think Howie's beautiful sets will work in anything but Carrara (and I have a fairly hefty investment in them).
If it suits some fair enough but I have my share of modellers, riggers, Animators each to their own
if not Carrara or a Hex there are many free ones too was just going through my collection
Wings3D, Meshlab, Realsoft (off a disc) Art of illusion, Metasequoia, Zmodeler, Gmax, Blender, Anim8tor, Blender, to name a few, have more actually
paid I have Zbrush of course and project Messiah as well as iClone,
have used Unity, UDK4 etc as well,
I would not say any app in DAZ store spells the end of anything, Curvy 3D been there a long time among others just gives more choice as different User interfaces suit different folks.
This is why I throttled back on a lot of my DAZ purchases. They don't take the time to actually talk to us --their own customer base. The only types of communications that I get from them are sales notifications --with no clear indicator of where they're going with this, I'm doing to sit this one out until I know exactly what's going on. I'm not made of money and so I have to be careful about what I spend it on. So when I see them do something like this it makes me suspicious that one day all the Carrara/Bryce stuff will disappear with no sendoff and you're forced to have to buy this in order to do anything in the future. If they'd taken an hour or two to tell us why and what their plans are, I'd be more than happy to support it. But I got burned on Nineve 6 by Victoria 7, so I'm not eager to jump at buying anything else that expensive until I can tell what the intent is. I've been watching Shade since version 10, but I stayed away from it because there were no programs to learn it outside of Japan and it looks like this is still the case. Unless they come out with some substantial training offerings, I'm better off learning Iclone or Cinema 4d or Modo where you at least have a chance of learning how to use the software properly. If they address that, then I might reconsider but I won't spend money on a modeling/animation package I can't learn to use effectively
Well I'm not stiring the pot on drama over it but in the old days Dan the man or Chris would have started a sticky thread telling us what's going on and why we should be excited. Now that DAZ is all corporate we only hear from the forum mods or some off the code folks like Spooky and part of the time they are just as much in the dark about stuff as we are!
Mama, I'm scared. I got Shade installed. I drew out a sphere to look it over.. Uh, it's just a cage... The only way to see what we expect to see is to click on the 3D print tab and it shows a properly filled solid sphere. Not sure if there is a setting that shows like that in the create tab but this is a little unnerving! lol
RAMWolff, I think what you have seen is only the wireframe,
but if you click on the small sphere on the upper right corner of the perspective view, you will be able to change the way it is displayed (wireframe, shading, texture, preview rendering etc...)
Otherwise, for those who want to know more about Shade 3D, there is a useful set of tutorials on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/Shade3DChannel1
Thank you Naoura!
Here is the link to the tutorial page from Shade's own website:
http://shade3d.jp/en/support/shade3Dchannel_videos_list.html
The basic is 49, the Standard is 199.
I'm going to download the Basic as a trial version from the Shade3D homepage, and see if it is any use to me as a modeller to me.
...let me know how it goes. I have too many irons in the fire both 3D- and RL-wise to play around with demos right now.
If the Basic version is primarily a modeller with decent UV mapping and can create .objs that can be imported into Daz to rig and texture, that would finally be a solution that fits my needs. Sad though as Hex already has the direct pipeline between it and Daz and doesn't cost 700$ like ZBrush.
Hmm, I'm thinking I might stick to learning Blender. I heard here is a version coming that supports OpenCL and GPU rendering on AMD cards.
CHEERS!
