Creating Clothing
in The Commons
Hey, I was wondering, is it possible to create clothing using blender? I remember sometime back on youtube seeing some one doing a tutorial of a video using blender to make clothing for another program (can't remember what it was) but what I remember he did, was he basically copied the 3d model he would make clothing for and cut off the parts he didn't need for it and fill it up if it was supposed to be baggy.
My question is, can this be done with daz figures if I save them as an obj and import it into blender? I really couldn't find any tutorials on youtube about creating clothing for daz on blender, but I was just curious.

Short answer...yep, I do it all the time.
Longer answer...it's a multipart process that involves moving back and forth between Blender and Studio to rig and fine tune the items.

Don't use the "copy the body and cut off bits" method for DS figures unless you've got Zbrush to remesh them afterward; otherwise the final geometry is in violation of the EULA.
My Blender tutorial on deviantart, linked by mjc1016, endorses a strip modeling method (which I still use). Some people find box modeling easier when starting out:
