Baking with Viewport Shading

algovincianalgovincian Posts: 2,664
October 2022 in Blender Discussion

Greetings Blender gurus!

Anybody know if there's a way to bake textures out of Blender such that they appear as they do in the Viewport? I'm currently running 3.3, but would gladly use any version if I could make this happen.

I realize it sounds weird, but there are times when the preview looks better than the full Cycles render (for AO in some spacial cases).

Thanks in advance if anybody has any experience with this, or any ideas to try!

- Greg

Thanks for responding, Padone, but I've tried baking AO in Blender using both Ambient Occlusion for the Bake Type in the Render Presets, and an Ambient Occlusion Node in the Shader Editor.

The baked AO maps resulting from both methods differ from each other, and unfortunately also differ greatly from the results in the viewport (when using the AO node in the Shaer Editor). Maybe I'll try an older version - I believe 2.79 was the last version to include the internal renderer as an option.

Again, thanks for taking the time to respond.
