[Solved] Diffeomorphic environment export not working for specific Scene

lilweeplilweep Posts: 2,746
September 2022 edited September 2022 in Blender Discussion

So Ive exported a few Daz environments to Blender and it usually works perfectly fine with some tweaking.

But I have been trying to export this particular environment (attached) with no success.

In Daz:

  • Save as Duf
  • Export to Blender with dbz with same name

In Blender

  • Import Daz
  • Mesh Fitting = dbz (or any other option has same results anyway)

All i get is an empty collection.

I see that scene makes extensive use of instances. Thomas did an excellent job improving the support for instances over time but some features may be not supported yet.

Which versions of daz studio and blender are you using ?

Did you try the "unmorphed unique" option for environments ? Because dbz is for figures.

edit. Of course also see the console if there's any error.

    I am using 1.6.2

Pretty sure the last time i imported a scene heavy with instances (using this exact same Diffeomorphic version), the dbz option worked fine tbh.  All instanced objects were there and where they were supposed to be.

Anyhow, I tried with both the Unmorphed mesh fitting options (shared and unique) and they both have the same outcome.

I tried starting over from scratch with new scene load in Daz and restarted Blender, same result.

the stupid thing about this scene in fact, is that on closer inspection there really werent many instances.  There were only three objects instanced, despite fact that many objects are just repeated and should have been instanced by the vendor!

Anyway, I delete all three instances.

I also deleted all the Iray Decal Nodes.

    And now it is working!

I have imported heavily instanced scenes before. And I have imported via diffeomorphic objects with multiple (up to 2 different) iray decal nodes on objects and they worked fine.

So maybe there is some limit above a certain amount of iray decal nodes... Some of these objects had over 10 iray decal nodes.

Or maybe there was something broken with the instances references in Daz or something

I am actually reinstalling windows since it couldn't start nor repair .. and I suspect it's the nvidia driver. As soon as I'm back I'll try to give a better look at this and see if I find something.

edit. I see Thomas is already looking at a similar issue so you may want to follow for a fix.

    https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/issues/1172/

edit. The issue should be fixed now, get the latest commit.
