Huge props to GiGi_7, Zebratech and Cybersox13 for mentioning the product and posting a sample.  Based on that alone I not only purchased it but also got several Generation 7 Pro sets blush  Am testing now and the conversions render well in Reality although Lilith doesn't seem to take (at least with the one test that I ran) in R4 but as it looks okay in D|S but it may in 3Delight and iRay, neither of which I render in.

Props and much respect to this thread, which I've been lurking in since it started angel yes

Lilith, along with the skins on most DO base figures has its own UVs, so will not work with this. Only G2F base skins work with the product

Thanks for the heads up, Havos yes

Did a test using the Cayman Studios' plugin using Sasha 7, Teen Josie 7 and Skyler.  Bought the Sasha and Teen Josie 7 during the second day of the sale because I was happy with the results of my tests, which can't be posted here because of the TOS angel

This test can, though, and all the figures use V6 Anna skin, which comes with the Victoria 6 HD add-on. Rendered in Reality 4.1 with default settings.

I am happy you are pleased with it, the product does work well.

Interesting that the V6 HD skin is based on G2F base UV's, I would have expected that skin at least to use the V6 UVs.

Skin builder uses the V5 UV's so sadly it doesn't work.

in Daz Studio, you can convert the Skin Builder textures to V6 UV.

Actually you would need to convert them to base G2F in order for them to work on G3F with this product

...however since V5 mapping is fully compatible with G2F, I would think it should still work. Couldn't you create a skin for G2F in SBP, and save it as a G2F texture asset?

This is the tipping point as to whether I purchase this or not as I am on a very tight budget.

I don't completely understand the map transfer utility

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 42,372

... it would be highly appreciated if someone with the Transfer Utility and Skin Builder Pro would give it a try, and if successful, posted the results. Rendo doesn't have a return policy like Daz does so it's not a matter of "oops I made a wrong decision, but I can always write a ticket for a refund".

There is also a possibility that the vender that created this will do one for V5 UVs, since there are many skins that use this UV set (since it was available for free following the release of Genesis 2).

...still would be nice to see if it could be done before I decide whether or not to plunk down the zlotys out of my incredibly meager budget.

Granted I do have more Genesis skins than G2 ones to choose from, however right now my investment in G3F is pretty much going nowhere because of the UV change.  The only other thing that would help is if an updated version of Skin Builder Pro for G3 was released.

Surprisingly it worked well, and was fast it seems to work well, and Daz didn't good anything up, as I was expecting it too, don't mind the skin or makeup it's horrible, the lashes and eyes are not from skin builder though they seemed to convert fine though

..wow, thank you for the assistance. Looks like its a go then.

  • Heads up! Over on Rendo, Cayman Studios has just released V4 UVs for G3F: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-3-v4/113767/

    It's also currently 25% off.

I'm wary to get this because I'm not sure how it works.

    Is this a geometry shell?

How would it work with 3rd. party geografted add-ons (non-DAZ genitals, etc.).

Would it also work with G2F skins or only V4?

EDIT: I see they are geografts and not a geo-shell. If so, how would they cope with HD versions and things like the Zev0 vascularity or ageing sets (when available)?

It works by applying a geograft to the areas where the skin edge loops have changed between Genesis 2 and Genesis 3, no geometry shells are used. Since those geografts are somewhat distant from the geograft for the gens, then they will work fine together. Also included are new UVs for the gens so they work properly with the older skins, so the merchant has considered the issue. Currently there are two separate products, one for G2F skins and one for V4, so they are the only UVs supported, more may come later, we will have to see. I do not have the V4 ones (yet) but I do have the G2F ones, and they work very well on all the skins I have tested them on so far.

On the left is Chiyo (G3F) with Liu Yan skin (G2F), on the right is Solaine (G3F) with V4 Elite texture: Natasha.  Tweaked the glossiness and modifier settings in Reality to match the base figure and rendered in LuxRender 1.5.1.  At 3 minutes 47 seconds they looked good but I let the render run an additional 30 minutes.  Aside from tweaking the geograft settings everything else has default settings.

Ahh - ok, thank you.  So my take from that is that the 3rd. party gens would need to support the V4 or G2F UVs (depending upon which product is purchased from R'osity). I'm talking the 3FeetWolf New Gens for V7 now and I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

No mention of 3rd party gens, though I guess 3FeetWolf might be persuaded to add V4 uvs to his product. There was no need to do so before, but with this product that might change. 3FeetWolf does have a texture creator product that might help.

The Texture Creator is for the older V6 NewGens (version 1), I believe. As you say though, 3feetwolf is very amenable to adding features although he now charges for extra UV support on his G3F product.

3DLux, very OT I know but I see you are also getting moiré patterns on your cloth in Luxrender. Did you use the cloth material or leave it at glossy? I have not found a way to overcome that particular problem yet.

Haven't tackled that problem yet because it seems to be with the Fit N Sexy (?) clothes.  But I'd try scaling down the glossiness of the clothes down to the hundreds (I usually have it set at 3K-5K) and scale the Bump percentage way down from the default 100%, probably to maybe 20% max then work downwards to move away from the current terry cloth appearance if that makes sense angel

Yes, the bump makes abig difference to the terry cloth effect but doesn't overcome the moiré pattern. I get it with lots of clothes - most noticeable on the OOT stockings. Anything with a weave pattern, really.

Well, for what it's worth, sometimes clothes actually look like that...

OK, I picked up CaymanStudio's V4 to G3F utility.  But is there anyway to bake or convert it to a new native G3F skin?

As mentioned earlier, it applies the geografts to work.  But it doesn't allow me to use G3F shaders, and G3F LIE textures are also all weird.  The G3F LIE textures may be correctable with manual messing around, but that's not ideal.  Kills workflow doing different makeups and what not.  Personally, to save out to a native G3F skin would be much better.  Is it possible with this?  I tried Shader Baker, but it's either not possible for it or I'm doing it wrong.  I end up with black textures with the geografts over it (not baking in illumination).
